Schumacher will be 42 next season, competing against lots of young and very talented guys. What can he offer now that the other guys can't? It's a very risky gamble to focus on Schumacher, with the added bonus of ruining a promising career. His time is over, he never should have come back to take the place of drivers that are on their time to shine. When you have Heidfeld out of the grid (thankfully that one was fixed by now), Glock in a Virgin and Sutil still stuck in the Force India, it speaks by itself.
It can only get better for Schumi after this season, no?
No.
lol.
I mean.. he came back and he was not winning, he was not right on the pace and he was out-performed by his team-mate.
You would think it would be worse if the car would be slower than now, but it's actually the comparison to the team-mate's pace to (usually - and roughly) define a driver's season.

:)

I think that Schumi will be better if he returns for next season in comparison to his teammate but I'd still bet on Rosberg outperforming him. His desire seems blunted and I think that the gap to the top drivers has privately shocked him. He also probably thought he was stepping into a car with title-winning prospects after Brawn's runaway success in 2009.

I'm with Eddie, though, on next season. I don't expect to see Michael back.

I hope not. He has 2yrs left on his contract and we all know the Merc sucks  . Just imagine if he had no neck issues last year and raced he most likely would have attained his 8th WDC  .

Not if they design the 2011 car around Schumi.
If they do so, he can outperform Rosberg.

If they build it around him then what's the point of the other driver? Just back to the old days of him having his own personal test driver who is allowed to test on the tracks they race at. Why would anyone bother waching the races then?

Er.. Ferrari's car is built, I guess, around Fernando.
McLaren's car is built around Lewis.
And who knows how many other examples there are!

He could once. I don't believe he can any more.

True, but if that's what a team wants there's nothing we can do about it other than voting with our feet, as you say. I, for one, would not want to see those days return.

I believe he still can.
Let's agree to disagree on this :)

You can catch some of the old races on Youtube. It truly is amazing to watch some of the races from back then.
