Well I have noticed that during all of his interviews he has seemed very relaxed when asked about his lack of performance, he doesnt seem to really even care. If this was his final year it seems to me that he would care about the legacy he leaves with the sport with and im sure that its not going to be "that guy who won 7 WDC, retired and then came back to please his mate Ross and then retired again".

I think he will stay.

Next year's Merceds car will be built around him and hopefully Mercedes should be in the mix with Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull. Only then we would see the real Schumacher again.

He'd have to get rid of Rosberg, though...

Rosberg enjoys the current handling of the car, which is going to change next year in order to suit Michael; so Rosberg could struggle just because of that.

If Mercedes build a car for Schumacher, negleting Rosberg, they will be shooting themselves in the foot again. Schumacher has shown no evidence that he still has it, and Rosberg is on a roll, two consecutive great seasons. They fell behind this season because of Schumacher, and they will clearly lose to Renault next year if they do it again.

Schumacher still has it. You don't lose talent.
You might lose reflexes and things like that, but talent doesn't go away at any point.

Schumacher only needs a car that behaves as he likes it to behave.

Talent doesnt go away but it might be worse than it used to be.I have read that Schumacher cant get used to the car he is currently driving, its tyres are different than the tyres he had used.He said he would help to make it better.I have read this in May.Now in the same magazine he says that he isnt going to give up,we will see lots of great stuff from him.I dont think it can be like what it used to be.This is a new start, different than the previous one.

He might be a tiny bit worse than he was, but he was the best!

And he struggles because the car does the opposite of what he is used to!

But is it worth it?

Schumacher will be 42 next season, competing against lots of young and very talented guys. What can he offer now that the other guys can't? It's a very risky gamble to focus on Schumacher, with the added bonus of ruining a promising career. His time is over, he never should have come back to take the place of drivers that are on their time to shine. When you have Heidfeld out of the grid (thankfully that one was fixed by now), Glock in a Virgin and Sutil still stuck in the Force India, it speaks by itself.

It can only get better for Schumi after this season, no?

Probably, but will that be good enough? Especially compared to say Sutil who Mercedes could probably get.

Mercedes would never choose somebody over Michael, so I think that problem doesn't even arise.

I think Ross Brawn had a series of comments critical of the car on the last F1 forum, there were about 4 or 5 things he said they had got wrong on the car. Rosberg is outperforming Schumi, that is for sure. But the quality of the car as being a middle-packer at best cannot be argued.

NR and MSC are both very talented drivers, and I think with Mercedes getting the car in order for next year they can make a push to be right at the front. Also since all the other teams are going right to the end of this season focusing on this year's cars and Mercedes focusing on next year, I definitely think both drivers will be in the hunt next year.

If you watch both drivers with an onboard camera you can see they are both fighting with the car. Michael is someone who you quite rarely see fighting with a car and thats because its usually built around him and his specification. Seeing as they have dropped this cars developments we should wait until next year where im guessing they will start from scratch.

At the moment, both drivers are out driving the car.
