Like in 2003 when Jos Verstappen got a reprive and Heinz Harald frentsen only packed up at the end of 2004 so he could be a possibility. I think Alesi and Herbet and Irvine are a bit too old now, mabye Pannis though? Would this be a better bet than say timo glock or Nakijima? Personally I believe these guys would still have a lot to offer the sport!

It'd be nice to see some of the old faces back, but there's so much great talent coming through now it's hard to find an F1 seat.

If there were more teams allowed in F1 some of the older drivers might have still been around.

Patrese will keep his record!

Coulthard is on 228, with at least one more season to go which would put him on 246.

Patrese contested 257.

Here's hoping DC gets another years contract. Go DC and Horner.

Patrese's total number of races started would have been 257 if he hadn't been banned from the 1978 US Grand Prix after he was accused by pretty much everyone and their dog for causing the crash that claimed Ronnie Peterson's life.

RB's got 253 races under his belt. From what I understand he wants to race another season for Honda and would thus beat Patrese's record very soon.

Agree, Mika would be great to have back. There was a thread lurking somewhere on this also - but I'd like to bring back Montoya - very entertaining :D

Yes, Montoya was my first thought when I read the title of this thread. A character and a good driver.

Mika actually tested for McLaren.
He was very slow though, so even if he came back, to much time in DTM means he wouldn't be as competitive as he once was.

Bring back Martin Brundle, just to get him out the commentary box. ;)

Everyone who remembers Mansells return (in a McLaren) will shy away from the desire to see their heroes return!

Let sleeping dogs roll over and chase a few dream sheep!

That was the shocking McLaren Peugot though (IIRC).

I agree, but what was more shocking was than Mansell's arse was too fat to fit into it!
