Guys why is everyone hating on Vettel's race starts? I believe it was Mr. Hamilton that actually gave him a puncture at the start and not the other way around.

Btw, im still banking on Yamamoto coming in and taking out half the field and allowing Kobayashi to win.

Could not have gone any worse for Hamilton (before rant starts i know its "only" quali)

- On a track where he is hated as much as in Spain he has a bad quali
- once again poor decisions by Mclaren are detrimental
-His arch-nemesis qualifies on pole
- his closest and most likely rival for the WDC who looked like he was nowhere today pips him right at the end
-and msot of all before going into a notorious first corner, he was gifted vettel to start behind him

not looking forward to tomorrow at all

What have they done now??
They have given to Lewis and Jenson the opportunity to choose between running the F-duct or running a low-downforce configuration, which is a nice choice to have so that a driver can "feel" what configuration fits him best.
Hamilton simply picked the wrong configuration, that's all.
So well done to Button for picking the right one.
He has also done a very nice lap in Q3, as well as Alonso, who was the only in the 1:21's; nicely done for him. The Ferrari's are very quick as shown by Massa, too.
The RBR's did struggle a little bit, but everybody knew this was going to be their weakest perfomance, so no drama. Very well done to Webber who managed to pip Hamilton for fourth even if he missed quite a lot of running in FP2 and FP3.

ok then take that bullet point out, it still not good is it. Hamilton is a beast at starts and on the clean side, not to mention a long run to turn 1, so i think he'll take webber and challenge Massa, i also expect button to take alonso at some point in the first lap.

Hungary and Germany both spring to mind. Not just his starts, its his idea of overtaking.

I think Japan may have had their fill of Kamikazes.

I am not sure about that; Button is slower than Alonso (and in fact than everybody of the top 6 at least) on the straights.

Well it's not a Red Bull pole, that makes a nice change. Alonso was looking good right from the start, showing off for the Tifosi a little I think :scratchchin:

A very nice qualifying lap from Button, you've got to give him credit for sticking to his guns. He knows what he wants and he doesn't care if everyone disagrees. It paid off in quali and, hopefully, in the race too.

I'm just praying Hamilton isn't the next 'Crash Kid' victim :-?

They are both quite close... so fingers crossed. Lewis is quite sketchy and I have faith in Vettel, he CAN take him out.

That was a really unvelieveable pole lap... looked perfect from the get go, it was so perfect it looked slow... hehe.

Maybe so, but he has better traction and braking thanks to the extra downforce.

Does he have the guts? I mean, I'm all for him taking the lead as I can't stand the guy on pole, but Jenson is the grids "Mr Hold Station"...

Can McLaren put F-duct on Lewis' car for tomorrow, has anyone an idea how long does it take for these modifications? Maybe BBC experts have mentioned it
#214630
If you look at the times throughout all 3 quali it's been the most consistently tight race all year, it's going to come down to race pace under full load and I do not expect the podium to end up the same way it qualified today.

Who can keep their options freshest longest seems to be not that big a factor as they look to be able to go a very long way on them.

I dont think the difference is that big. Lewis messed up at the very first corner, going into braking. The difference is probably a tenth or somewhere around there.

He chose f-ductless for a reason, give him the benefit of the doubt.
