whatever wing they have on the f-duct still optimises straight line speed, thing or large. there are points for and points against and i guess during the practices thats really what the teams have been doing, mclaren anyway. if someone uses it its completely justifiable.

and i really dont buy into redbull not changing that front wing, it looks WAY stiffer around spa and monza.

Well, I'll take the fact that Lewis has a Monza spec (flat) rear wing and no F-Duct as being a little more accurate than your assessment that the F-Duct would still work on it.

As to the RB front wing, two things, look at the video of it on Vettels car just before he hit Jensen, it's dancing all over the place.
What I found very interesting from the engineers at the Friday FIA press conference at Monza was that Aldo Costa and Adrian Newey both suggested increasing the flex limit from the current 10mm to 5mm to put this issue finally to bed - guess who objected - Paddy Lowe (McLaren). Now I wonder why that might be

Jenson Button making the F-Duct work for him there. Looking good for the race

Oh, and what was that about Jenson not being able to qualify well? Jenson Button P2, Lewis Hamilton P5: WHERE ARE YOU NOW!?*

Good job by alonso and button, amazed how bad red bulls were ;D. I'm also very very disappointed with Lewis' qualifying, dunno if it was because of the F-duct, it was his call one way or the other but losing out to button with 0.5 seconds is far too much

JensonB: it's funny how you start rubbing it to hamilton's face when he loses out in one qualifying, even though lewis has gotten him pretty much every saturday. but i'm gonna let you be happy for today :D

Could not have gone any worse for Hamilton (before rant starts i know its "only" quali)

- On a track where he is hated as much as in Spain he has a bad quali
- once again poor decisions by Mclaren are detrimental
-His arch-nemesis qualifies on pole
- his closest and most likely rival for the WDC who looked like he was nowhere today pips him right at the end
-and msot of all before going into a notorious first corner, he was gifted vettel to start behind him

not looking forward to tomorrow at all

First time this year that he has been on thr front row, i wouldn't start getting to carried away. Jenson still is not good at qualifying.

Lewis will have no problem starting on the clean side of the track and gaining two perhaps three places at the start.

I really can't see jenson being in second by the end of the first lap.

And to top it all he is still 30 odd points behind Lewis.

well id like Jens to get in the lead and Lewis to make up 2or 3 places at the beginning.Massa makes a stunner but Alonso panics as Button sails by and ends up facing the wrong way.

What a coincidence, me neither. He'll probably be in the lead.

Fantastic, no reddbulls on the front row by pure merit, Alonso takes pole for Ferrari, wasn't expecting that. Yeah, where are all you Ferrari doesn't have strong brakes now? Right, now Alonso, just keep it together and you'll run away with this win.

Vettel behind Lewis, Lewis needs to hope he can get away from that - fast. Heck, Vettel should be starting in the pit line.

Force India floundering a bit, Williams quiet surprisingly well - cosworth?

What have they done now??
They have given to Lewis and Jenson the opportunity to choose between running the F-duct or running a low-downforce configuration, which is a nice choice to have so that a driver can "feel" what configuration fits him best.
Hamilton simply picked the wrong configuration, that's all.
So well done to Button for picking the right one.
He has also done a very nice lap in Q3, as well as Alonso, who was the only in the 1:21's; nicely done for him. The Ferrari's are very quick as shown by Massa, too.
The RBR's did struggle a little bit, but everybody knew this was going to be their weakest perfomance, so no drama. Very well done to Webber who managed to pip Hamilton for fourth even if he missed quite a lot of running in FP2 and FP3.

I think we found Lewis' weakness in qualifying. If you let him go for that one last gasp when he's down in the sheets and it's the 1 last chance, he manages to screw it up. I somehow started hoping for Lewis to just start fourth and no one else to beat him when he started that last run. Webber managed to knock him down another...

Hopes on for Jenson to beat Alonso (though I dont think he has it in him) and Lewis to get through the first couple of corners unscathed. It will be tense.

Not trying to bash him here. I think Lewis/McLaren, have made some strange decisions with using up tyres in Qualifying sessions and it happened again here? He went out on new softs straight away in q2, and only had one fresh set for q3, commentators suggested that he may have been planning to do q3 on the harder tyres but he diddn't? This isn't the first time a slightly odd decision has been made for no apparent reason either?

Alonso on pole at Monza, Button making a show of Hambone and Webber putting Vettel in his place.

Happy days. :drink:

No idea. The only consolation is his main WDC threats are beside him and behind him (gulp)..

1st priority is to beat the bulls, then the rest.
