What will F.A. do now? Stay with McL,? move on? If so, to which team?

That F.A. is one of the worlds best F1 drivers is, I think, undisputed.

But is he a good team member? I think not.

To be a top F1 driver , you have to be an all rounder and a strong team member. F.A. looks like a selfish spoiled brat who chucks his dummy when he can't get his own way. Or is that because of the way he was treated by McL?

It is easy to see why World Champion F.A. had a serious ego problem when some young rookie came along and matched or beat his best. Nose out of joint or what?

M.Schumacher would not have Kimi in the same team as him, because he knew that Kimi would demonstrate that he (M.S.) was not such a special driver after all. He just had a fast, reliable car, and, he thought, a lesser team mate. However, when Massa started to improve and match him he retired. Coincidence? Who knows?

As for Lewis his ego does not seem to be as fragile or sensitive at the moment, but may change with time. What doi you reckon folks? Its all idle speculation isn't it? but its fun. M

You've covered a lot of points in the original post Martin.

Fernando, picked a fight with Ron Dennis and got his bottom kicked. What went on behind closed doors is not public information. I've not yet fully decided on whether FA is the spoilt toy throwing egotistical maniac everyone is making him out to be. I think he expected to be number 1 at McLaren and when that didn't happen he started firing his pistol.

Schumacher was a team leader, he brought a lot more to the team then fast driving. His ethics weren't the best but he came from a school different to the modern squeeky clean court room loving beast that F1 is today. Schumi asked to be number one and got it, Ferrari enjoyed their most successful period in history so they got what they wanted as well.

Lewis is destined for great things. I think for him to be classified as one of the greats he's going to have to do it in a team other then McLaren first...

Ferrari got their best ever results because they had the best car, the best driver and employed illegal team orders with impunity.

Saying that, Schumacher was the best driver on the F1 circuit from 1998-2005 and I am not suggesting he won only because of the team orders.
