I am going to go to the Turkish GP next year so i am looking forward to that day to come, though i dont even know what day it will be.One of the reasons i am looking forward for the race that i can meet my favorite drivers.Since i have never been to a GP or met someone who has been to a GP i dont know when to meet them.I have read in another forum that someone met a driver on Wednesday.I thought that drivers would be able to meet their fans only in weekdays.Am i right? If any of you has been to a Turkish GP before, which place is the best to watch?

Hi, congrats on getting to the next Turkish GP!!Id love to go again! I watched from the grandstand at the last two corners (11&12 or 12&13 cant remember)-could see them coming down the hill, great view and lots of overtaking. (lewis a car a lap in GP2! :D ) The other place Id recommend is turn 8. But Istanbul Park is not crowded like Silverstone, you should get a good viewing point just on general entry. I'll try to dig out some pics i took.

Ok I found a few pics. A word of warning though, dont get you hopes up about meeting drivers or you may mar a wonderful experience with disapointment. Ive been to many GP's but only seen Damon by a bit of luck. I dont bother wasting my time trying because Id miss so much else. Well here are the pics

This picture was on quali day when I first got to the track. Very excited! This is walking down towards our grandstand

This pic and the next one are part of the view from my grandstand. You could see to the right as well.

And the next, two more views from the grandstand.

The last pic is Schumacher trying to catch Alonso- You see from the clothes I am wearing that I was actually on Alonso's side in those days. Oh foolish me!!But Id already watched the real star in the GP2 race  Massa at this point in the race was way ahead of both Schumacher and Alonso. the race was for 2nd place.

Thanks for the reply :) I would like to see turn 8 since it is a really hard one.I will try to buy a seat from a grandstand which gives a view of there. Also, thanks for the warning,i would be disappointed if i expect to see my favorite drivers but cannot meet them.Pictures explain so much about how nice it is there.By the way in picture 1 and picture 4,you are wearing something like a necklace is it for a special permission about something?

Turn 8 should be awsome, good choice! The thing round my neck is a ticket holder, its not essential but its useful. your ticket is always to hand when you need to show it and you wont lose it if you're carrying lots of things. You can buy them from the merchandise stalls or get them online. Another point that might be helpful, at Silverastone you can take any food or drink into the circuit including alcohol, also there are many independent food outlets. At Istanbul Park security is high and you cannot take any liquids in even water, its like going on an aeroplane, bags are searched. I think you can take food in and it is worth taking snacks, because the only food oulets are the circuit ones; they have very limited choice(a few types of sanwiches, not very nice)and a few types of drink, its expensive and the queues are huge. Of course it may have changed in the last few years, but if its still the same try to buy water as soon as you can-it was over 40degreesC when I was there!

I should have guessed all these before but i didnt :D In Turkey wherever you go for holiday or places like Istanbul Park, food prices are really high. For example i went to a hotel and bought a can of coke and it cost 7,5 TL(its a bit more than 3,75 Euro).I might buy the thing which looks like a necklace,it might be a memory too.Weather here hasnt changed, its still really hot and humid so if the race will be in summer i will take water and apply sunscreen and i would advice that to everyone.

Its moved to May now, so if they leave it around that time it may not be quite so hot. Because Turkey has such lovely food and the people seem to me very business minded, I imagined there would be all sorts of food stalls inside the circuit, but there were none (except the track ones)so i can only assume the circuit doesnt allow it.

It wouldnt be that hot in May,sometimes its even cool .You are right about something that some of Turkish people are business minded because thats what they get used to.By the way i remembered something that a friend of me had been to a GP but she told me a very little thing about Istanbul Park,i cant remember so clear. She told me that there were nice food but she had been there in 2008 so it might be changed.

Dont add this one to the reasons to come back,i am not really sure about that so you might get angry at me when you cant see any difference :D It would be even scarier for me to make a teacher angry

And a student who speaks English extremely well!! No sadly Im not going next year. I almost went last year, I was in Turkey in August-Istanbul, then the beach in the south. I was hoping to go to the GP at the same time but when they changed it to May it wasnt possible. School holidays are very nice but can also be restrictive. But I'll be back!!
