I wouldn't say that Lewis is the better driver; Lewis can certainly wring more out of a ill handling car than Jenson but if the McLaren had the perfect balance then I believe that Jenson would be right up there with Lewis battling it out for pole position. It's Lewis' adaptability that's his strength, Jenson is a like like Damon Hill, silky smooth but that is not what is required with the current McLaren, that car needs to be wrestled around the track and it seems that Jenson isn't capable of that sort of driving!

If the car was balanced more then Lewis would be leaving the rest of the teams for dead, that includes his team mate. Lewis can drive any car that Jenson can and still do a better job, sorry but he is the better driver no matter how you try to sum it up.

As a matter of fact Jenson is getting worst as the season goes on. His second half season is going the way of last years season only this time he dosn't have the massive lead to fall back on or to carry him through to the end.

Lewis has been the best driver this season especially knowing that the car is not up to par with RedBull or the Red team. If luck had been on his side then he would be over 35 points clear of the rest.

Yes, vettel has had all those poles but what has he done on race day, nothing. Imagine if Lewis had all those pole positions,he would be so far out in front it would be a joke.

This is why Jenson is so close to Lewis. Bad Luck on Hamilton's part

Imagine comprehensively beating a guy 10 races out of 12 and he's 10 points right behind you.

2 DNF's in high points positions is the cause.

Jenson closing the gap! Superior racing driver, much easier on the gearbox you see.:rofl:

Jenson may have blown his chances this season; wasn't even close to Lewis to capitalise on his retirement... Jenson could have been leading the championship even if Mark won the race if he had been right up behind Hamilton. Given the McLaren has been a handful in recent years, Jenson needs to step up to the plate or play the support role. I say this as a Jenson Button supporter, he doesn't have the balls to compete at the top level, taking the risks it seems, when Lewis clearly takes the risks!

I'm a big jenson fan but my god that was woeful today, at least he was honest, he said Del La Rosa wasn't holding him up, that was as fast as he could go.

His races are gone at the start, he usually looses a couple of places at the start but I think it was 6 today.

Ah, I still like him, but he's got a few problems with his driving and their overshadowing the good points at the mo, he needs a good kick up the arse, Lewis had enough grip!, same car!! BOOT!

Are you serious? You are a pretty funny guy.

Barcelona.. 2 laps left before end of Race Hamilton. 2nd position = 18 pts.

Monaco... impossible to overtake track. Button in 11th on first corner + Alonso tyre strategy at safety car = 12th position = 0 points

Hungary.. Impossible to overtake.. Hamilton in 4th close to Alonso + Vettel penalty = Possible 3rd position = 15 points.

Button didn't lose any sure points. Do you watch the races?

I'm a realist; I don't believe that Jenson is performing upto his potential, if he would put it all on the line like Lewis does I believe he could match him! It just seems that Jenson is unwilling to drive on the absolute limit, If he wants to become a double WDC he will need to give it his all; I don't believe his performances are his best right now!

I agree, he can do better. But he is obviously trying too hard not to make mistakes and holding back, this to me shows lack of confidence. He had a dream start to the season but now he's actually having to work very hard to get close to his earlier results and they aren't working out with his 'wait and see' attitude. It's time to come out of his shell and do what he really can IMO.

Well, you need to belive because Jenson has alway drove like he is now. Last year he had car that caught the other teams off guard in the first half of the season.
What happened when the other teams caught up, your boy Jenson stopped winning.
This year he is in one of the best cars on the track yet he still can't win a race unless he get's lucky with tyre changes.
His luck has run out and now he is being exposed for the middle of the road driver he is.
Lewis is showing him that the car can still carve out results even if it is not quite up to par.
Now Alonso and Massa have upped their game Jenson will slip further down the leader board lol, Jenson really isn't as good as you think he is.
The good thing is the Button fans can't make excuses for him when the season ends, Jenson will have been beaten by the better driver in his team.

He isn't as good as the likes of Alonso or Hamilton no but who do you think is better than him?

Last season Brawn did have an amazing car which gave them a big advantage early on but Red Bull have had a bigger advantage this season and haven't even come close to mirroring the results Button got.

Being dominant in qualifying does not mean they had a great advantage in the race.....did you watch the races this season.

Indeed and at no point were they slow enough to not be leading every race.

Go back and watch each race and you will see the majority were lost on bad tactical decisions by either the team or drivers or by mistakes/mechanical issues.

Whereas the Brawn had bullet proof reliability and the management were stellar. My point is the Redbull drivers can hardly be blamed for being where they are right now.
