Teflonso
Martin Brundle referred to Alonso in a recent article as Teflonso. Has anyone heard him called that? What a super name for him!! Brundle was talking about him being central to all the recent big racing controversies.....so I can see where the name comes from.I think its ace

New York mafia boss Don Gotti was referred to by the media as "The Teflon Don" because no charges brought against him stuck.

I think thats about the gist of it.
Maybe thats where Brundle heard it too and just adapted it for Alonso.

The only driver who is ablt to crash the Red Bull party and pose a SERIOUS threat despite being 1.5 sec slower. Today's performance proved why das Hockenheim episode was correct. It was ugly, but accurate as hell.

Think about it... Alonso almost won the race, despite being handicapped 1sec a lap. not only that, but he was actually ahead Vettel for a few miliseconds there in turn 1... We have a saying: "if you try to block the sun with a finger... you end up blocking your own eye".

But of course, Massa is fighting for the championship

Ferrari got what they wanted, I think it detracts nothing from their performance today and their resurgence in the season, but Ferrari fans today were cheated (by Ferrari) of a potentially great battle.

Maybe but any firm that put down 100 million US to run a 1st rate F! team would do the same.
They have too much at stake here.
If both drivers are out of the math in points, then you will likely see them dice a little.
Most likely the anti Ferrari people would like to see them dice it out and take each other out but, that's never going to happen at Ferrari.
I believe Alonso is the most complete driver in F1 today and his peers agree.
He brings 110 percent to the track, works with engineers constantly and doesn't do stupid things like putting someone into a wall to hold on to 10th place.

Even do I dislike Alonso as a person (seems vain, problematic, and egotistical), I have to agree with Mr. Conte. He might not be the absolute best, but he is easily in the top five drivers right now. Maybe even the top three.

Ha ha Definitely sees the red mist. I agree... the guy's a temperamental bar steward.
Not necessarily a poor team player... i would say, not a player at all. The guy takes his racing quite seriously

i thought Massa was the hardest working guy in F1, but Alonso is even outworking Massa. Also, nobody has the fundamentals and basics of racing better than him. Straight like that.

Alonso's great when he's not worked up, I suspect him getting worked up is probably over keenness to win WDC, it starts to cloud his temperament. Also his arrogance means he believes its the right thing for the team to make him their No.1 driver.

He seemed happy when his engineer told him to push becuase Vettel had a drive through, and they he knew Webber needed to pit, along with his engineer telling him to "be wise".

I'd say Germany and Hungary this year was hopefully his turning point, he was aggressive when he needed to be, drove fast, qualified very well considering his car and was consistent. Drove with Vettel behind him in Hungary like he wasn't even there.

i agree with marlessco but think it should be ferrari who should have had points deducted, and allow the drivers there points after all it was a team decision to cheat, i also think alonso is a good driver but is like a spoilt brat and winges about everything, he may have been slightly faster but passing is another thing

The whole Ferrari-Gate incident sucks for one guy but face the facts...
Alonso and Massa are both doing well, but FA is in the zone right now.
Alonso is hungry and Hungary was a great example of him showing his ability to be patient when it counts the most
Who can really bring a championship back to F3RRARI?

What I can't admit to is the belief that he is undoubtedly No.1 on the grid, sorry but he's not come close to showing that this season. He's made 2 or 3 big mistakes which cost his team points already and that was before halfway in the championship.

I couldn't begin to choose which driver is the best on the grid. Far to much is car dependent. With that said, Alonso would certainly be one of the finalists...along with...with...oh dammit, I just can't say it. The evil one. Whatshisname. TheTeamMadeMeDoIt.
