I think "Slow down Michael, think about the Championship please." would have been better. :P

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that schumachers' actions weren't as bad as what everybody is saying.
Here is the argument for schumacher:
1: There was no accident:- I know that isn't the most convincing argument but when you are said to be one of the best drivers in the world in one of the fiercest categories of motorsport there will be times in which you will place you car so close to causing an accident without actually causing an accident. This is what schumacher did. It was bloody close but it still wasn't an accident.
2: Schumacher left him just enough room:- If schumacher didn't leave barrichello enough room barrichello wouldn't have got past. As a racing driver schumacher only had to give him a car width. This kind of goes hand in hand with my previous argument. I can't remember the exact details but i seem to remember one particular incident at catalunya between alsonso and webber where webber pushed alonso all the way in to the pit exit lane and even on to the grass when alonso was attempting to overtake webber..... (remember webber than came diving back up the inside to retake the position).
3: They were fighting for the final points position:- Marting brundle said only a couple of laps before the incident that barrichello would either finish 10th or crashing trying. Brundle also said that barrichello would just stick it up the inside of schumacher and make schumacher miss him. Now if that was the mind set of barrichello fighting for the last points paying position why should michael schumacher have a different mindset defending the last points paying decision. There is a world of difference between 10th and 11th. If martin brundle expects someone to make a kamakazi move to gain a position surely he could expect someone to make a kamakazi move when defending a position.

That's all i can think of right now but i love formula 1 and i ove discussing this stuff. And whilst i expect to cop a hiding from a lot of people by siding with schumacher i hope we can keep it constructive. I am open to changing my stance given the right argument.
Let it be known that i am not a schumacher fan so my point of view is not a biased one. I am australian and therefore a staunch webber fan.
Cheers

I thought that Schui was a disgrace today. yet again thinking he is above everyone else. doubt he will get much of a punishment, but he should, unnecessarily dangerous driving!

News - 10 place grid penalty for Schumacher next time out.
#209928
He's been penalised with a ten place grid penalty next race. About right, in my opinion.
#209929
yea i think thats a good punishment!

So, he starts 24th on the grid then :rofl:

Yeah. it's probably not that much of a punishment if if he starts 24th is it. 6 of the 10 spots will just be the second class cars anyway.
That and he probably be struggling to finish in the points anyway.

Michael Schumacher (GER) Mercedes GP MGP W01 squeezes Rubens Barrichello (BRA) Williams FW32 into the pit wall and onto the grass. Formula One World Championship, Rd 12, Hungarian Grand Prix, Race, Budapest, Hungary, Sunday, 1 August 2010 Rubens Barrichello (BRA) Williams FW32 passes Michael Schumacher (GER) Mercedes GP MGP W01. Formula One World Championship, Rd 12, Hungarian Grand Prix, Race, Budapest, Hungary, Sunday, 1 August 2010

Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher has been punished by the Hungarian Grand Prix stewards for his clash with Williams’ Rubens Barrichello in the closing laps of Sunday's Budapest race. Schumacher receives a 10-place grid penalty for the next round in Belgium.

As Barrichello attempted to overtake the German on Lap 66 on the main straight, the seven-time champion appeared to move over on the Brazilian and push him towards the pit wall.

After a post-race investigation the stewards decided Schumacher had "illegitimately impeded car 9 during an overtaking manoeuvre”.

The Belgian Grand Prix takes place at Spa-Francorchamps from August 27-29.

:clap::clap: Woohoo! Perfect finish to a great day of racing.

Unfortutunately when you are a legend like Schumacher, they all come out to get you when the opportunity presents itself.

The move was a close shave yes, but did anybody really expect anything else?

Rubens has been moaning ever since Austria 2002, and in them days it was actually written in his contract YOUR ARE THE # 2 DRIVER :)

Get over it Rubens, You probably have Michael to thank that you had at least 2 contract extensions at Ferrari, oh and how many titles do you have Rubens....?

Atrocious, but not unexpected. The block, I mean, not the penalty. You know what to expect when you try to overtake Schumacher, Rubens more than anyone, I would guess.

Retire now, Michael, before you hurt someone or yourself. All you're doing is providing more fuel to the haters who assert that your stellar 7x WDCs were tainted.

Hard to win a title when your not allowed to win a race.

Welcome to the forum by the way :wavey:

I think it's a fair punishment given the scope of the rules; Michael Should have known better really, Rubens as alongside when the move was made, clearly dangerous; if the pit lane wall didn't end when it did; Rubens could have been killed or seriously injured. Unexpected from Michael? NO, we come to expect this sort of behaviour from Michael!

Maybe if Rubens didn't get those contract extensions, he would have won a championship or two... getting stuck in a #2 contract was bad for Rubens, he should have moved from Ferrari to be able to fight for wins, even if he had an inferior car, at least he wouldn't have had to pull over to let Schumacher through! Frankly it does put a serious dent in Schumacher's credibility as a seven times world champion, how many would he have won if Rubens didn't help Schumacher at Ferrari?
