[What's Burning?]

I suspect we have seen the last of Karun Chandhock, which is a shame, he seems like a nice guy and not a bad driver; never going to set the world alight but has shown some potential! if HRT are to continue into next season they have set their stall out as being also-rans as it looks like it's pay drivers all the way.

I thought they were going to rotate the three drivers round each race ?.

The rotation apparently has a flat spot.

If they take Chandhok away, I just hope the whole team goes out in flames and disappears from F1. Chandhok was the only redeeming thing that team had. Sorry, Senna is a huge disappointment, the name does not a driver make. Karun was consistently better than Bruno.

And better than Yakon, by the way.

considering sakon's experience its pretty suprising how many mistakes already he has done. flicking the engine fire shutdown button instead of the break bias, just lol.

when it comes to the new teams im really looking for lotus to step it up a gear the last few races they have started to stagnate, virgin are catching rapidly and considering how well lotus were doing a few races ago it would be a shame to not see anymore progress.

Its all about the money isnt it, With Yamamoto coming in they get more funds then when they have drained his money, they will come back to Chandhok and drain his funds. Hopefully chandhok has made a decentish name for himself in the Paddock so he can atleast hope another team snatches him up. It seems alot of people like him too.

Actually... for Chandhock, the whole deal could end up paying up for his cause. He's got the exposure and experience he wanted. I think teams now are definitely aware of him now... he's not done bad. Hopefully he gets to drive some more this season, and gets a better drive next yr.

unfortunately wont be as simple as that, just think how many drivers who have done half a season in the past and never to be seen again. even drivers who have actually got multiple team / season experience fade from the sport rapidly. which is a great shame because we have lost already a lot of very good drivers

I seriously doubt that Chandhock will end up in a Force India, Vijay Mallya said in a interview on the FIA website a few months back that he didn't rate Chandhock and wouldn't hire an India driver simply because he is an Indian in an India backed team.

That's a good ethic for Vijay, I quite like him, I think he genuinely cares about the sport and isn't just interested in sponsorship, he wants the team to be successful.

Force India won't go with Chandock over Paul, and its hard to see his credentials for any other team.

HRT need money, it barely matters whoes driving that car as long as they pay. We'd probably be better of with such an uncompetitive team, hopefully this is only short term.

yes. I think you can tell by the progress F India has made. So far, the team has turned out to be very credible with reasonable progress rather than simple ad space. Maybe choices like that (not going for Chandhok just because he is Indian) is what has made F India credible.

Whether or not he goes for Chandhok or another indian driver i guess depends on how good the driver can show... from what i've seen, i think Chandhok could be getting reasonable performance in any team. But if Vijay says, maybe for his team right now he is not the best choice. Liuzzi has been very poor though...

I think maclaren will be glad of this 3 week break, really it could not of come at a better time, as least know they might be able to improve some of their upgrades, although they wont have any testing. What i have found most dissapointing is that they seem to have forgotten that the only reason they have as many points as they do is due to the red bulls fighting over eachother and the f duct. If every team had the f duct at the beginning of the season would maclaren still be where they are now? No. Have they really been working as hard at the factory as last year? Far from me to accuse but have they?

hmmm you might want to check the F1 calendar... and make sure you check it before this coming sunday

sure they have! but you gotta give props to Ferrari and Redbull for the work they have done this season. IT all ebbs and flows with F1.

Yeah they have, well Mclaren got the F-duct going and thats their credit.

Last year I think Mclaren kinda messed up at the start of the season with their car, but Whitmarsh said it wasn't a fundamentally slow car, so they diddn't have to do a whole redesign or anything. Also, Redbull were ahead of Mclaren last year, and Ferrari ended up focusing on next season (and Massa got injured), this year Mclaren are up against those two for the championship.

You can bet the teams are working as hard as ever, especially as they're in a very tight title battle. It's just that in McLaren's case last year, the car was a dog so it was easier for them to find huge chunks off time, which might give off the impression to some that they were working harder last season.
