Massa should have won. That is all I'm saying about this as an Alonso fan. Let's hope this doesn't happen again.

Not really. More like... Alonso should have challenged.

It would have resulted in a collision. Could you imagine the mayhem at Maranello had that happened.

Exactly. Then what is the worse team order?
But if that's what people want to see... fine. I persoanlly was amazed when Red Bulls took eachother out. That was the most stupid thing ever.

And even then, they were both fighting for the championship at more or less equal pts, Webber was as pretty much as fast as Vettel.
Today Massa was considerably holding Alonso back. The championship is lost for Massa. And the race showed Massa lost a lot of time getting the hard tires to work. That was a no brainer.

It was a good race until that move...

It was a dull race until that move. The only overtaking of any consequence happened on the first corner - it was a procession after that. Vettel threw in a few fast laps near the end but he was never going to pass Massa. Not without team orders, anyway... :hehe:

So seeing as everyone is arguing about the main talking point in the other thread, perhaps we can have a normal discussion about other aspects of the race here. :hehe:

McLaren - aren't 'that' far back, i think they perhaps made a setup error in going for lower downforce - we've seen the ebb and flow of car characteristics in recent seasons and they will be challenging for wins on pace again in good time, certainly i expect them to dominate Monza.
Ferrari - look very good under braking and especially traction, i wouldn't be surprised if they got another 1-2 at Hungary. Something they need to do cause it's Spa after that...
Button - unlucky in the first corner because he got badly held up, i think he could have been near Vettel otherwise today. Used a far better strategy (on paper) than the others.

Hmm.

Ferrari fined, referred to WMSC

By Jonathan Noble Sunday, July 25th 2010, 16:04 GMT

Felipe Massa, Fernando AlonsoThe FIA has announced that its World Motor Sport Council is to consider whether Ferrari should face further sanctions for the team orders controversy at the German Grand Prix, after the team was fined $100,000 for its actions.

Fernando Alonso was handed victory at Hockenheim after his Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa sacrificed the lead on lap 48 - soon after the team had told the Brazilian that he was slower than the car behind him.

Although Ferrari has insisted that it did not issue a team order, and merely provided Massa with information, the race stewards after the German GP had a different opinion.

After speaking to team principal Stefano Domenicali, team manager Massimo Rivola, plus Alonso and Massa to examine the events of the afternoon, the race stewards decided that the regulations had been broken.

In a statement issued on Sunday night, the FIA stated that a breach of Article 39.1, which bans team orders, and 151c, which relates to bringing the sport into disrepute, had been committed.

It said that the penalty would be: "Fine $100,000. The case will also be referred to the FIA World Motorsport Council for further consideration."

Back to the race, I was surprised McLaren brought Hamilton in when they did. Felt he could have stayed out longer and not got caught behind Kubica when he came out from the pit. Can only assume they were reacting to the others pitting. Had he stayed out almost as long as Button he may have finished closer to Vettel and not had to worry about Button breathing down his neck for the remainder of the race. As it was he was lucky he wasnt jumped by Button.
Having been told that the race would have more overtaking in the drivers eyes, was in fact disappointed that for most of the race it was a bit of a procession.

Actually its same like Canada where its only 4.5km/lap n lap times about 1.13s. Before at Canadian GP also lapped driver up to 8th..

All I wanna say is that Massa led a beautiful race right from the start, literally, and that I would've loved to see him at the top of the podium, even though my guys are the McLaren team. By the way, no too shabby work from them, with the car not being 100% up to par. We still lead! :)

Force India. wtf. :banghead:

Then why didn't Alonso pass him cleanly. You know, like in actual racing.

Massa tried to sent him to the grass... that's not quite what a team-mate would do... unless you're Vettel or Hamilton. Ferrari could lose both cars by a stupid move from Massa.
