I am wondering how much longer will Adrian Newey handle this mismanagement by the team. If the team stuffs up this years championship then surely he won't be impressed and may consider other options.

Sebastian Vettel is clearly too hard on his cars, Marko has now even suggested this - thats not conspiracy Helmut, thats just your driver pushing harder than he should because he puts too much pressure on himself to achieve his lifelong dream, perhaps he can't handle the pressure Helmut? Personally I don't think he can. Hamilton did this in 2007 but seems to have learnt from his mistakes whereas Vettel still continues to make rookie errors.

I don't think that Newey will be going anywhere; he pledged his future to Red Bull not so long ago, I suspect that he is being paid very handsomely for his work and was even given his own F1 car recently. As for Vettel; yes he does make a lot of rookie mistakes when leading races, he shouldn't be making these sort of mistakes four seasons into his F1 racing career. Red Bull should be running away with the championship this year but they are not because of Vettel's mistakes often caused by impetuousness.

Below is an interesting interview with Red Bull owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, let's see if he is true to his word!!!

Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz has intervened in the favouritism row surrounding his team and insisted both drivers should be treated equally.

The issue blew up at the British Grand Prix when a new front wing was taken off Mark Webber's car and given to team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

"If you ask me today who will be champion, I say one of our two drivers," Mateschitz said.

"The pits must not interfere because then problems begin in earnest."

Webber and team principal Christian Horner met last week to discuss the team's decision to swap front wings and clear any simmering resentments.

Now, Red Bull founder Mateschitz has also moved to quell any further tensions within the team and to prevent accusations of favouritism escalating by insisting there is no driver preference.

"This philosophy is not in keeping with my understanding of racing," Mateschitz told Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung .

"We do not have a number one and a number two driver.

"Both drivers have cars to exactly the same standard. The problem with the new wing at Silverstone was the first exception."

Webber and Vettel both publicly vented their frustrations after the British Grand Prix earlier this month.

After taking the chequered flag, to move seven points clear of Vettel in the drivers' standings, Webber commented on the team radio: "Not bad for a number two driver."

Vettel, who battled back to seventh after a first-lap puncture, told the BBC after the race: "Sometimes good and bad, you get to know people better and see their true faces. I think I learned my lesson."

But Mateschitz has no intention of stopping either driver speaking their minds in the public arena.

"Such a thing would not be our style," added the Austrian tycoon. "Everyone can tell the truth - which is one of the highest virtues of Red Bull."

Mateschitz wants his Red Bull drivers to race each other for honours

Neither will Mateschitz stop his drivers going head-to-head on the track, even if it could potentially harm the team's championship chances.

Vettel and Webber lost out on a potential one-two at the Turkish Grand Prix as the pair collided when disputing the lead in Istanbul.

"Our two drivers know that they have to beat the other and they still need each other to take away as many points as possible from the competition," stated Mateschitz.

"You cannot just program a champion.

"We are talking about racing - the image of blood, sweat and tears is not by chance."

:yikes: Vettel was asked whether the wing incident showed favouritism. His answer, " Normally we try to keep these things within the team, but it seams we have a leakage."
The little creep! I bet he said it with that sickly smile on his face. Why didn't he just answer- 'yes, but my team mate wouldn't play along'

OI!

Respect your 2010 WDC lol!!

They both make me laugh, just what they say makes your cringe lol!! I sit there like ouch lol!!

As i had suspected, Mark did NOT want the wing at first. Vettel did, he liked it from the 1st time he ran it. Mark only wanted the wing once it emerged there was only 1 left and they were going to give it to Vettel.

In the end, all the crying about was more an issue of trying to gain leverage and turn perception into making him seen as a victim. Webber chose to make it public before he actually talked to the team as to why the decision was made.

They made a perfect decision. Vettel was ahead on points so they gave him the wing, how on earth is that favoritism?

Webber knows that Red Bull is the best thing that has happened to his formula one career and that there are plenty of great drivers who would give an arm and a leg (though it would make it hard to drive) to be in the position he is in right now. I'm not saying he should be grateful but hes really blown it out of proportion.

Did you know Mark had a new floor at the British GP and Vettel didnt? Favoritism eh?

But it hasn't just been the front wing situation; there has been lots of other little incidents that indicate that Vettel is favoured by Red Bull management.

Actually Mark Webber had one of Vettel's former chassis'; the one that Vettel used as an excuse for his poor performance in Monaco. Plus Mark couldn't use his previous chassis after his "red bull gives you wings" episode in the previous Grand Prix!

Looks like it's being reported that Jeson gave Lewis a ride home after Silverstone.

How's that for a public relation's stunt to rubbing Red Bull's nose in it?

They took it off of marks car to put on vettels, that is favouritism!

The perceived reason they favour Pettel is due to his marketing value - young German F1 WDC could sell a lot of Red Bull.

However, with the general F1 community turning on Pettel combined with more people supporting 'underdog' mark Webber - perhaps Mark could sell more Red Bull and become the promoters dream?

the point you favourtise one driver over another is the point that one driver is so far out of the champion, its impossible for him to win. To concentrate of winning something give it to another.

But Vettel was ahead on points. If you want to win you would give your better parts to the driver who is more likely to win?

I guess RedBull should have ASKED Mark but i guess they didnt expect him to be such a whiny little...

So if we put it this way,

when i was younger i had the bestest toy, my little brother had a ok toy but it was no way near as good as mine. One day he broke it and your mum decided to take yours from you and give it to him.

Now i will come under criticism because i got upset that my toy was given to my brother because of no fault of his own, rather than my little brothers clumsiness.

Am i suppose to keep my mouth shut or should i pipe up until my mum decides to buy me a new one.
