Kimi Raikkonen is under contract until the end of the 2009 season, as announced last year at Monza.

The following is a statement from Ferrari.

"Ferrari announces that it has extended its agreement with the driver Felipe Massa through to the end of the 2010 racing season."

Phew! Good on FM :D

Yeah, Forum Queen and moderator - aren't I special?

Anyway, I agree that contracts are made to be broken (see e.g., JB), so who knows where everybody will be in 2008 or 2009?

Montezemolo:

"As for the younger Massa, he had more pole positions than anyone else, he is strong and loyal and it's not insignificant that I personally took the decision to renew his contract up to 2010," he added.

To be fair, Kimi would have to leave Ferrari before Alonso could be signed.

We have seen how the Spaniard reacts with a comparable team-mate.

A Raikkonen/Alonso partnership your spill into the same conflict that has been witnessed at McLaren this year.

Now Alonso and Massa would work fine.

I don't think it would you know. For whatever reason, Alonso's beef with Hamilton can't just be because he is good, maybe it's that he is a rookie AND he is good. Or maybe there are other reasons as well. I don't think he would act that way with Kimi. Even if he did, Kimi is that laid back he just wouldn't bother to retaliate and therefore it would die alot quicker than the Hamilton 'saga'.

I am basing my opinions on the way he rounded on Renault last year when things were not going his way and Schumacher was catching him the the WDC.

Alonso needs a whipping boy as a team mate.

IMO

the only smart move for FA is stay where he is, bury his pride and apologise to Mclaren and stay with a team that will challenge for the title next year. FA however won't do that and will go to Renault and end up in the mid pack drivers

If the power's that be dont want him, Mercedes, he wont be there in '08 and I see them buying him out of his contract.
