Prodrive is one of the world’s largest and most successful motorsport and vehicle technology businesses with annual sales of more than £120 million and employing nearly 1000 staff in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia-Pacific.

While the company’s roots are in motorsport, more than half our business is now involved in developing niche cars and new technology for road vehicles.

In motorsport, we have won six World Rally titles with Subaru; five British Touring Car Championships with BMW, Alfa Romeo and Ford; and two class wins at Le Mans, most recently in June 2007 with Aston Martin Racing. i heard that it might be some sort of mclaren secound team with the same car as them and P. de la rossa might drive for them. so is this right or is this just nonsense gossip?

Prodrive unlikely to enter F1 in 2008 - Ecclestone
Oct.19 (GMM) Prodrive is unlikely to join the formula one action next year, Bernie Ecclestone admitted on Friday at the scene of the last grand prix of 2007. David Richards' Banbury-based outfit is signed up to debut next March, but uncertainty about the touted 'customer car' rules and a legal challenge by Williams has probably compelled Prodrive to "give up", F1's chief executive told reporters at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil.

"I think they have decided to give up, haven't they?" Ecclestone, 76, said outside of Sao Paulo on Friday.

"They were all excited about coming in, it's a pity for them."

Prodrive, now nearly three months past its self-imposed deadline to organise other details including commercial and driver line-ups, has already admitted that its plans to run an identical McLaren-Mercedes package has fallen through.

Ecclestone said he thought off-the-shelf cars should "probably not" be allowed in F1.

"The teams say they are constructors spending for example about half a billion a year and the Prodrive budget was about 75 million," he noted.

If only the FIA had let Eddie Jordan back in this wouldn't be a problem, as (from my understanding) he was going to build his own car.

Out of interest, what sort of career progression do you have to take to become an F1 race car designer? It's not like you can go form designing road cars to F1 cars is it.

They might be able to bend the rules and get the mclaren f1 '08, and slightly modify it so it is not identicall, can they do this?

pro drive is exactly what f1 needs, another car capable of winning races and championships, means better racing and more contenders to win the drivers championship.

Can't they just speak to the FIA and "borrow" the dossier that McLaren had? It would save a fortune in development, as they have everything mapped out already.
