That is simply putting your head on the chopping block and superglueing it there. Which guy in his right mind would almost guarantee that they will be winning the WDC this year...even if you're leading it?? Even Jenson last year, with the massive car advantage he possessed never came anything close to saying something like that.

Hope at the end of the season, someone throws this back at Mr2times' face and we get to see his face get as red as his car.

Be honest- what would your reaction have been if Hamilton had said it?

---------------------

From the bbc:

"We are angry that we did not get the results we are capable of delivering," said team boss Stefano Domenicali.

"But this anger must be turned into a positive force. We have to knuckle down and continue to develop the car."

"There's no point in crying about it," said Montezemolo. "I want the team to tackle the second half of the season in a positive manner.

"We have gone through much worse moments than this and we have come through them, but clearly we can no longer afford to lose opportunities, which for various reasons, have escaped us in the last two races, even though we had a competitive car.

"Qualifying and the start have become the decisive moments, so we must improve in those areas if we want to win.

"I expect everyone will give 100% to bring home points quickly to make up for those we have lost to date."

"We must remain rational," stated Domenicali. "We must not let ourselves be discouraged nor frustrated.

"We will continue with the development of the car, working calmly, with great concentration and determination. Then the results with come."

Lewis says some stupid things, But I dont think Lewis would be even stupid enough to say he will win the championship in this way :hehe:

Wow this thread grew. Dont see why... because it is obvious: without the best car (or a car capable of fighting for wins at most races), you can't make mistakes.

Mclaren are leading the championships because they have made very few mistakes. Red Bull are still in the fight because they have the best car. Very simple

BTW... i think the issue at Valencia definitely is a turning point for Alonso/Ferrari 's season. Unless they make a HUGE mental effort, that was a very hard to digest issue. Seriously, it was a track they needed to win, and had the possibility to gain on pts. That, combined with the Silverstone deal (where because of McL struggles was yet another golden chance)... man, i was surprised Alonso kept driving. It was his mistake to not give the P back... but, scheisse, talk about a bummer penalty.

Unlucky but I'm sure I read somewhere that most of the delay was due to Ferrari putting their case to the race director.....that delayed decision which ended up with the super bad luck clashing with the SC. Not sure how true but what a way to shoot yourself in the foot!

At this rate I'm going to have to change my username!

All in all, I believe that Ferrari as a team have lost it, But Alonso? I'm not sure. At one point Massa was leading this? Alonso is under some pressure, which I thought he could or would handle. It seems the opposite really, they are competitive and that is the frustrating thing. Massa is there, but not? He wants to but I think a little frightened of racing. Alonso needs to chill out and start racing like he did back in the first round. A little Disappointed but I am hoping for a new turn in Germany, But Vettel will win that Gp, I will bet on it.

Looking at this piece of news and the state of Ferrari bosses so called "reasoning" I would say they were out before this Championship started.

How the hell did Domenically become boss of Ferrari? :bs:

Shouldn't always believe what you read. He would say that to make the FIA/Stewards look like they are being fair, truth of the matter is Ferrari have pushed their luck and the FIA has made it as difficult as can be. Now next race they need to keep their cool, Alonso did just that and is ready to fight!!

Ferrari screwed that one up. Alonso probably counted on the team to tell him what to do, but like its being said, he should have given the position back on his own account. Maybe Ferrari told him to keep going, no one really knows... but it was a screw up.

Anyway, i think it was an aftershock of the Valencia BS. If Ferrari cant pull it back together after that unlucky and unfair incident, they'll take themselves further out of the championship.

A Little unfair, but it's the end of that race and people are stirring again. I think they can come 2nd best? Alonso 'COULD' win the title if he can pull together and win some races and be a consistent 2nd or 3rd? But winning then podiums then back of the pack is not good enough and they need to pull it together. Because that race Alonso would be 3rd and would of moved up in the title battle...I think

Yes. Unless you have the BEST car you need consistency. And get those wons by luck (ie the others crashing out, an internal meltdown, mistakes etc).

A little unfair... what? the penalty? or the result?
in both cases, Valencia and Silverstone the penalties were fair, the result or handling unfair. That's why they brought in former racers to assist the stweards, and it turns out its been worse than before... and seems what they have gone to is having a familiar face to point at, when things go weird.

But yeah... Alonso and Ferrari have to put that BS results behind them. It was terrible... bad luck... BS... incompetence... whatever. That won't matter anymore.

Once Ferrari and Alonso DO put it all behind themselves (and I believe Domenicali is a lot more grown up about all this, it's the idiot Di Montizemulo that winds everyone else up) they still have a bloody good car this season. Alonso has shot himself in the feet a fair bit this year, crash at Monaco, jump start etc...

But they do have a good car. A couple of wins for Alonso and he'll feel a lot better. And the team will feel better... And then things will come to them.

As for the WDC... Well anything's possible in F1. Possible, but not probable.

That's pretty much my thoughts exactly.

Although I think if Ferrari still had brawn dealing with the stragety and handling the drivers, Alonso at least would be a lot better this year. Brawn wouldn't have let Alonso dwell on Hamilton in Valancia, and would've known to give the place back in Sliverstone.

Plus I think Ferrari have been a bit off in examining their telementary and car setups when making the transition from practice to qualifying.

I agree, but you say "a couple of wins" like they grow on trees  Consistent top 5 and podium finishes is what wins WDCs, they should focus on those first.
