The wedding between Rubens and Williams seems too be flourishing, He's really doing the Biz, reminding me of the old Rubens at Stewart, Now! the question is " does everybody think the wedding should continue, or should Williams get a divorce next year".

Thus endeth the Laboured wedding analogies.

The team seem to think that Rubens is helping to drive them forward in a way that was better than drivers in the past few years. I can't see why they would want to stop improving and if they think he's a major reason for it, then it's obvious that there is no case for a 'divorce'.

I think Williams is in a good place. they have Rubens to be the solid rock of a driver. who has been around the block and knows what makes an F1 car tick. They also have the Hulk a young charge who will if the stories are believed one day become a multiple world champion. With Rubens his Bridesmaid at his side.

I think they suit, I like Rubbens there. But he won't win the world title, i suspect a few wins with Williams. Just like i do with Raikkonen & Renault ;)

Great job by Rubens. He really turned it around at 1/2 pt of last season... from then on, he's been inspired.

Im happy with this relationship, i can only see it get better.

Rubens i can guess is an excellent developer of cars. With Brawn and Ferrari and now Williams are pushing for strong results.

I really want to see Williams get more success they really deserve some.

They're in an ideal situation, a good experienced driver that's showing that he can help develop a good car, and a young talented driver that should in no way create friction with his older more experienced team mate and the relationship there is for Rubens to help develop both the car and his team mate. I'd love to see him get rewarded with a podium this year, or a much more competitive car at the beginning of next year.

Hulk for at least 1 podium. But Hulk is doing a great job and i do want to see Williams top 5 really. Rubbens fighting with Schumi!!

Williams always had a soft spot for guys who could develop a car, Damon Hill being a case in point, always a great tester, Thats why Adrian Newey wanted him at McLaren, I'll never get why Damon thought " Hmm an offer from McLaren, But hey! Arrows are my choice".
I did hear a rumour, something about Damon driving an Arrows before he made his mind up and the tyres they gave him weren't youre normal tyres and flattered the car.

Without Rubens the team would be nowhere. Barrichello's influence has started to show since Montreal when they changed the whole direction of the aerodynamics.

I think you can blame the initial shabbiness of the FW32 on Barbie and Crashajima being inept at car development and leading the team on a wild goose chase knowing that neither were going to be in the FW32 (Barrichello could have made the FW31 a winner if he'd been with the team last year). The car was already being built by the time Rubens arrived.

The new spec Cosworth engines have helped too as the driveability has improved although it is not perfect yet, and the achilles heel is still the drop off in power as the engine wears out - power wise it's miles better than the Toy-slow-ta.

Cossie are being allowed to tweak their engines? I didn't know that. I do look forward to seeing how they get on at Monza cause they'll defo put a brand new engine in.

Barrichello trusts he'll stay at Williams

Rubens Barrichello is confident he will stay at Williams in 2011, claiming it would be wrong for the team to let him go.

"I hope so. I think it would the natural thing," Barrichello said of staying at the team.

"Obviously I haven't signed any contract just yet. I am not talking to anybody else.

"As I said I think Williams would be doing the wrong thing if they were thinking of something else because they already put into the programme of next year so it would be a waste not to be driving."

When asked when he was hoping to sort his future, he said: "Before the break, I hope."

The veteran Brazilian joined Williams from Brawn GP this year.

Despite a difficult first part of the season, Barrichello has shone in the last two races, having finished fourth at Valencia and fifth at Silverstone.

The Williams driver sees no reason why his team would not renew his contract, as he believes he is driving at his best.

"Right now it is almost a waste of time not to have me in the car and driving," he said. "In terms of speed I am performing better than ever and I think this positiveness is just making such a change.

"And people say well, you are not winning races, how can you be so positive? Well it's because as a team you have got to believe as a team we'll produce something that will put us back to the podium area, and then maybe next year make a good car that can effectively bring the first place.

"We went through a 'getting used to' time. It was almost a fun time. One time the engineer said to me, 'How can you know that?' - 'Cos I'm f****** good!' It was an honest answer but it was meant in fun. I never had arrogance in my comment.

"I never wanted to be better than anyone, but what I believe that what I am saying is a good feeling for the car. So then the team went on and proved that it was the right correction in the tunnel. So it's harmony between what I tell the engineers now, so it's a really nice working environment to improve."

Barrichello is also hopeful that Williams will have a winning car next year, but he admits it's impossible to predict.

"After all those 18 years in Formula 1, you can almost say anything can happen. You would never have said that the Brawn would be such a winning team last year.

"There are no need for a lot of changes to make this thing win. We need a little bit on the engine side, and we need a little on the aerodynamic side.

"We need to change the characteristic of the car still to have a bit more downforce on some areas that I need. We need to work with the tyres – it's going to be a different tyre. It just needs a little bit of something to make a winning car."

Hill refused the Mclaren offer because the pay was commensurate with results, and he considered it an insult, or considered it to mean "we're just pretending to want you with this fake offer which we know you'll decline, now please leave."
I can understand the desire to help a team grow and succeed from the bottom but why he thought Arrows could go anywhere or that a Yamaha could ever be better than a Judd is a mystery. Cracking drive in Hungary though!

Flukes can happen, Brawn was an example. Small team just happens to luck into the aero magic part and run away with the first half of the season. It could happen to any team. It would have to happen to Williams for them to climb back up. I can't see a win next year. I can't see a Cosworth customer engine winning a race as long as Merc and Ferrari and Renault don't stand still, bar any Ligier style attrition/fluke win. I can see them gradually getting back to the top, as the complexion of the sport goes through another cycle of slow sea change that sees all those manufacturers return as works suppliers and another glorious garagiste era, but not during Barricello's tenure. Maybe not even during Sir Frank's tenure.
