Definitely Barrichello; probably too nice to be a F1 driver, Mark Webber is a nice guy I believe, very straight talking but seems like a nice guy.

I dont think there's such a thing as being "too nice" for f1. There have been plenty of successfu "nice guys", Fangio, Clark, Hakkinen etc.
Of the current bunch Heikki seems like a genuine nice guy.

Yup, Heikki too!

Timo Glock is a top bloke. He made so much time for everyone.

Pedro de la Rosa comes across as a good guy as well.

I say too nice because, when you look back on his career; he has played second fiddle for much of it; first to Michael Schumacher and later to Jenson Button at Brawn, a not so nice driver, aka Mark Webber who is a nice guy but won't play second fiddle or allow himself to get consistently screwed over as has been happening recently!

The difference is, even the "nice guys" who were successful had to be nasty at times. Fangio took over his teammate's car, which although commonplace, wasn't exactly gentlemanly. Similarly, Hakkinen could have a few mean moments. I can't comment on Clark, though. I'm afraid I know very little about him.

In the case of Fangio, Collins offered him the car, "When Collins came in on lap 35 for a tyre check, he spotted Fangio on the pit wall, and voluntarily offered his car, so giving up any chance of the title. A remarkable gesture of sportsmanship." Cant say id have done the same thing.

Heikki Kovalainen, gives so much money to charity while he's not even one of the top riders and getting so big sums of money. I guess Felipe is a nice guy also, don't remember anything controversial including him.

Well, he got very angry when he heard about crashgate.

I agree with everyone mentioned so far, and would say Rob Smedley(sp)

Impossible to tell really.

Most of the drivers are either in PR mode or what we do hear or see is usually manipulated by the media.

I suppose none of us would really know until we met the drivers personally and spent time with them. It is probably like any situation.

I mean Schumacher is often made out to be a villain by many, but he gave millions of his own money to charity over the years - how can he not be a good guy?

Also are we restricting this to drivers only or can we add other team personnel?

I think MS is just not nice to the other drivers.

It was either Suzuki or that other Japanese driver, whose name escapes me right now, of his era, who when he retired his father said that he was too nice to be successful in F1.

There's no way to tell who's nice. Someone you see on tv or read about might come across as nice when he's actually not, or vice versa. Most are capable of acts of cruelty on track as needed but in daily life could be the nicest guy you ever met, if you meet him.
Then there's our perception or definition of niceness. We are all different in interpreting what they say or do. We ourselves lose our tempers or speak unkindly after we genuinely feel we have been wronged. We may be incorrect about thinking we were wronged but if we really think so it's not fabricated for the purpose of being an arse. But when we see an F1 driver do the same on the radio or what have you, we think he's not nice. That's unfair and a double standard. Drivers have the right to storm out and brush off reporters etc, I don't think it means they aren't nice. I wouldn't be nice to Osama Bin Laden. So I guess he will think I'm not nice, and I won't care. Would the rest of this forum then say I was unkind to Osama and say that I am not nice?
