To be fair it is the red and white that has you thinking Marlboro. I don't see Marlboro in the new logo at all.

Why do you think they even bothered with a new logo?
Their old SF logo was fine, just remove the barcode and you have a good logo. This one os another attempt at recognition to Marlboro

Cause they HAD to make a new one, so why not completely redesign? Either way i still think it is clutching at straws to think that is explicitly dedicated to promoting Marlboro. Yeah, the triangular section looks like it might possibly be half of the Marlboro fag packet design but that is one hell of a stretch, what, you think the marketing guys seriously thought that your average Joe would make the association between the two? Nah...

well i hold my marketing and design theory studies in high stead and yes the marketing guys knew what they were doing when they came up with this ugly piece of work.

It's got a hint of Andy Pandy about it. I think it's the triangular hat. Or maybe it's one of those Chinese hats - matches the motorised rickshaws they put on the track!

Good for me? Yes i think so, means i know more about logos than you but Business and marketing is one thing, graphic design and the theory behind it is another you see. Answer this, Why do Ferrari need this logo? What is wrong with the prancing horse on it's own?
