Mr2times is a champion.

Many of us will never be!

Make that most.

Precisely!

I'll never make anything of my life.
He has.

Yeah but you're a much nicer person than him :D

End of the day though nobody really knows that unless they've met Alonso.

See when I first got into F1 I was quick to judge the drivers on how the media presented them or what they acted like in the heat of the moment, but now I just do not think you can practice such a method.

None of us have ever been a Formula One race or in a high pressured environment like they have. None of us know the drivers personally or no what makes them tick. How would we handle it if we ourselves were in such a situation? I know I would be quick to moan and gripe when things weren't going right.

So much pressure it put on everyone in the world of F1. So much so that it is hard to really tell what anyone is really like.

Consequently I want to give all the drivers a chance and try to accept that people make mistakes and that some can take defeat and some can't.

Maybe i'm wrong.

Given the choice, and their pay checks being equal, I think most drivers would rather simply just drive and not have to deal with any media or fanatical fans. I would very much like to keep it being only about the racing.

Unless they're running over baby kittens for sport on the track, I really don't care about the drivers personal lives or who they're dating or what they do In the off season, but the media (this site included) would go out of business if they allowed it to happen so we get every comment, good bad or indifferent or dumb that everybody associated with the sport makes after the race.

We're not going to get the utopia we want.

We don't have to get involved in threads that spiral out of control.

I'm not going to stop enjoying the sport.

I don't follow one driver or one team and certainly not blindly.

FANBOY COMMENT ALERT!!

DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS F1 ENTHUSIAST WITH ADENOID ISSUES!

I have to say that until Alonso moved to Ferrari, he was starting to win back a little respect following his childish antics at Mac Laren as he used to call them, I mean intentionally parking your car in the box to deliberately hold up your team mate queuing behind......playground stuff.

Thought he'd matured a little and was really looking forward to a battle between Mclaren and Ferrari. Based on his behaviour at the weekend, it appears as if he's not changed at all. Nobody likes a sore loser and with the likes of Monty and Alonso at Ferrari I think we can be assured of some more highly entertaining comments from the pair of them.

Had also picked up on the teeth grinding when Lewis is all pally pally with him.....oh dear.

I agree its all about the racing and all this fan boy nonsense is a bit silly, but when the Bernie gives us a track like Valencia to watch parades on rather than races, a nice bit of Alonso baiting doesn't go amiss to liven things up. I vote they should give him Rob Smedley as his engineer, can you imagine how he'd have reacted on Sunday if Rob had told him to 'calm down Fernando baby!' - would probably be the first time an F1 driver parked his car in the pits and decked his engineer :)

Roll on the next race, just need to make sure Lewis remembers to pack a sharp stick :)

I tend to agree with you, but I also see that in the case of Alonso, there's always a cloud of controversy around him.

Both drivers have had their bad luck, like Alonso in Malaysia and Lewis in Spain, right now I expect them both to go head-to-head with one another, because the gaps in qualifying and race pace are very small.

Let the best one win and let's also hope none of them will have bad luck or situations like Valencia. Everything fair and square

They've had a chance to duel it out on equal terms 1-1 and that was Canada. Mr2times got eaten by Lewis and later, by Jenson.

Equal terms where the McLaren was clearly a much faster car all weekend? Get over your hate for Alonso and/or love for Hamilton already.

Dear Scotty,

Would you like me to copy + paste Alonso's own quote stating that they had the 'pace to win the race' but got hard done by backmarkers? Please advise.

You're too hard on yourself. I'm sure you've achieved many things no F1 driver ever has.

Yes, they have more money and fame than we have but they have lost something very fundamental which we all have - freedom, and freedom of choice. Imagine your local bar/mall where you just like to chill out...imagine you're an F1 driver. Can you do a little window shopping without being bothered? You'll have a very strong hand due to constantly signing your autograph whenever you're in the public eye.

In most ways, famous people have a great life but there is a miserable part to it. Examples of extreme cases, suicides/drug abuse. The list of celebs go on and on. :yikes:

But Ive met you :)
And you can get a pretty good idea of the drivers by their own comments and behaviour without the press throwing in their views.

why should he when theres plenty of haters for Hamilton. fair play i say :P

Some people come on here would like to have an actual level headed discussion about F1 rather than fanboy arguments. Although that admittedly seems like a rarity these days.

*Cough*

I believe if Ferrari / driver are in the wrong i will admit it, But Ferrari are just frustrated, simple as pie!

He thought his first season would be gold!!! Like a Raikkonen re-play :)
#205041
Raikkonen didn't have an easy-gold season in his Championship year did he? The car wasn't up to the task for the first quarter of the season and results weren't coming through thanks to reliability issues. It was his amazing 2nd half of the season which won it for him. Plus the fact that McLaren had the horrible internal virus issues hampering their progress and focus to close out the season.
#205049
@Scotty you will never win here.

I admit that Alonso and Ferrari have been rash in this instance, but given that many were already negative about the two it is hard to discuss it logically.
#205053
@ Ewan and Scotty,

its impossible to have a logical discussion about Lewis and McLaren as well you know. Infact id say it is much much worse than what is said about Alonso and Ferrari so i dont see why anyone should be singled out for talking rubbish about Alonso when nothing is said in regards to the s*** about Lewis.
