Alonso was three feet behind Hamilton when the safety car pulled out. He obeyed the rules, Hamilton did not.....Alonso ended up 9th and Hamilton ended up 2nd. Alonso has a pretty good reason to be pissed and I suspect it's more about the championship points than it is about a feud several years old like the McLaren lambs are attempting to make it out as.

Alonso should have just followed Hamilton past the safety car. Knowing full well that a European GP steward room is not going to hammer Hamilton or McLaren.

Would they have handed down a harsher penalty to Alonso if Alonso had been in Hamilton's place? I seriously doubt it. I'd have expected a drive-through penalty at best, had we been talking about an illegal move by Alonso instead of Hamilton. If it had cost Hamilton a few positions nobody would be crying about it, but because Hamilton had a sufficient gap to do a drive-through without losing any positions the penalty suddenly wasn't enough. If the circumstances were slightly different such that Hamilton had a forty-second gap over the next car and a stop-and-go penalty was handed to him, and he was able to make his penalty stop and still retain his position people would probably still be crying that it wasn't enough.

I don't get the Fox news channel.

Lucky you!

But they're fair and balanced!

I'm sorry, but I can't say that with a straight face. I really don't see how there's still people that honestly believe that a network that fills their schedule exclusively with conservative hosts that are obviously Republican and anti-Democrat can even be in the ballpark of "fair and balanced". They don't even attempt to hide their bias, but they proclaim that they're "fair and balanced" as if they're serious about it.

In fairnes to Fox... I can't believe I'm even saying that. Fox News and Fox sports are independent of each other.

My grief is, if it would have been a damned NASCAR race they would have stayed there interviewing every last toothless redneck until the stands were empty. For F1 they don't even show the post race driver interviews! WTF, if they're going to do crappy coverage just leave it on SPEED or at least let SPEED broadcast the full thing along with whatever crappy coverage they're going to give it on FOX.

On the subject of Fox; I couldn't watch the BBC coverage as the Internet was down most of the morning and for some reason it wasn't available on the iPlayer after the race. Anyway back to Fox; I don't know whether it was Fox or the FIA coverage but during the race it suddenly cut to some Spanish music accompanying some Spanish scenery, wtf?

Some folklore from Spain - Valencia; they do that sometimes, probably because Americans are clueless with regard to geography.

I bet 1000 dollars if Lewis was disqualified from the race because of this event, most of you wouldn't even talk about it, you would say he got what he deserved or whatever. Now FIA gave him a drive-through penalty which wasn't effective, why the hell do you spend your time yapping about Hamilton while FIA is the one whose actions were ineffective and false?

Hamilton's penalty was the harshest and mostly swiftly issued penalty of the day by a long way. All others who broke SC rules got 5 second penalties after the race was finished. Does anyone know why so many cars ended up speeding during a SC period? I don't recall anyone having broke this rule before today.
