With he exception of Mark's crash and the drama/stupidity with the safety car, it really was a sleeper of a race. Big ups to Kamui Kobayahi for finally racing to his potential and to Sauber in general for the best race results of the 2010 season for them.

Going back to Mark's crash... I was bracing myself for the worst after seeing his car upside down in the air and was extremely relived to see him pull his steering wheel out and throw it down in anger. I knew he was ok if he did that. He had a momentary lapse of judgment no fault of Kov.

Oh and it's really good to see RB with a respectable 4th place finish, great to see a competitive Williams team!

Why do these threads always end up being fights to the death between Lewis-lovers and Lewis-haters? I would have hoped that after so long we would have learned not to turn everything into an us vs them argument.

Lewis didn't deliberately cheat. He broke the rules. He was penalised. The fact that the penalty didn't make a difference to his position is largely irrelevant - and it's a reflection of the part luck often plays in the results of F1 races.
The FIA made slow and somewhat bizarre decisions.
Fernando has a right to feel hard done by, but he has overreacted by taking it all so personally.

Very well said.

Any info on what happened to Hulkenberg's car? I hate Fox coverage... they didn't even do the post race interviews

AAAAHHHHHHRRRGGG!

HULK SMASH!!

Earlier he had a big smoke plume as though the engine had quit, but the smoke was gone as quickly as it appeared and everything seemed fine, then we see him park it a bit later. Then they broadcast the radio transmission that took place just prior, telling him to park it near marshals that have fire extinguishers, we think you have a fire. Then close ups of the delaminated right rear tire were shown, then Martin wondering out loud whether that was cause or effect, and that there was body damage near the wheel. What I saw, and what they did not mention, was the bodywork above the right engine bank was hairy, as though destroyed by fire.

What do you expect from Fox? They have Bill O'reilly and Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. I can't even decide which one is the bigger whack job.

Eddie J hits the nail on the head, Alonso hates McClaren and in particular Lewis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9sWTl11wPI&feature=watch_response_rev

Funny because it's true. You could hear him seething in his radio messages, all he cared about what burning Hamilton. I think he's a phenomenally talented driver, but man, run your own race and keep nose on your plate. I think ultimately Ferrari is just bucking to get a favor marker for the next time they need a steward's descision to go their way.

They're all big whack jobs, but Rush is not on Fox, you're thinking about Glenn Beck... scary human beings.

Alonso was three feet behind Hamilton when the safety car pulled out. He obeyed the rules, Hamilton did not.....Alonso ended up 9th and Hamilton ended up 2nd. Alonso has a pretty good reason to be pissed and I suspect it's more about the championship points than it is about a feud several years old like the McLaren lambs are attempting to make it out as.

Alonso should have just followed Hamilton past the safety car. Knowing full well that a European GP steward room is not going to hammer Hamilton or McLaren.

Lewis hesitated, if he hadn't, we'd not be talking about it, if Alonso would have followed Lewis he would have been defending his decision. If he would have passed more cars in the beginning of the race he would have won. Racing is full of could have should have would haves. Sometimes they go your way sometimes they don't sometimes your engine blows up two laps before the end of a race costing you points, other times your wheel explodes two laps before the end of a race costing you point.

The problem here is that Lewis should have been doing what he's paid to do, DRIVE A CAR TO THE UTMOST BEST OF HIS ABILITY! If he's on the radio complain about other drivers or about the race steward's decision or about how they got the short end of the stick, he's not driving to the best of his ability, I'm kind of glad Kobayashi passed his actually. I think Fernando is arguably one of the best drivers in the grid today but his sour grapes are showing, because of Ferrari's lack of pace and lack of luck and today just rubbed salt on the wound.

But he's trying to do everyone else's job when he should be focusing on getting the most out of his car or passing the guy in front of him.
