My take on it:

Mclaren were found guilty and had to be penalised, the penalty for whatever they did was total exclusion for this season and next but if McLaren had been kicked out halfway through the season it would've handed Ferrari both championships for both seasons which would've been disasterous for the sport. A deal was made (possibly without even Max knowing or having any influence as he stated publicly he thought it was far too lenient although that could've been an act on his part) for Mclaren to keep running their cars on the track for the sake of the sport and to some degree the sponsors but with effective exclusion from both championships, the deal being that if they won the drivers championship there would be 'new evidence' and McLaren would be excluded from the 2008 season.

Since Alonso is probably not going to be driving a McLaren next year and he wouldn't mind seeing that happening (and with the lure of the title) McLaren wouldn't be able to trust him in the way they could trust Hamilton whos whole life at the moment is McLaren and who is certain to remain with them for some time which is why only Hamilton went to the hearing in Paris.

After the deal was made at the hearing, Alonso, unaware of anything, started complaining of having minor car problems and a breakdown in relations with the team while Hamilton continued to hold onto the lead. The final two races gave Hamilton two chances to secure the title but failed both times due to strange errors and decisions which could very easily be engineered with the FIA watching very closely just to make sure.

I hear Ferrari were given technology found at Roswell...

It has to be true! Some people have seen E.T. in the basket next to the spare tires
Come to think of it, doesn't Jean Todt have a striking resembelance to E.T.?

HAHA!! never heard anything so true before!

couldnt be bothered reading the previous posts, but any theory that Lewis was not allowed to win is bs, total bs.

Find something else to invest ur energy in.

No no the man has got a point - luis was clearly told by the FIA to crash twice. Kimi was told to start trying and ferrari were told to use next years budget this year..... IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW :lol:

To add to my previous, Massa stated that he was ordered to let Kimi win, the order wasn't from Ferrari though but right from the top of the WMSC so it doesn't count as team orders and Lewis' extra pitstop just ensured he didn't score the required points to secure the title as his 'slip' of the hand wasn't quite enough to put him out of contention. It's the biggest gamble of his career that Rons ever taken was that Kimi would win in Brazil to save the future of Mclaren else Alonso would've taken the title and gone back to Renault leaving Lewis, Ron and the rest of McLaren out of F1 for the next season at least.

Not taking the extra few second on Lewis's last tyre change to fuel him till the end of the race was another bizarre decision on top of not bringing him in at China when he was down to fabric tyres. Two totally bizarre decisions in the last two races of the season, when the championship was virtually in the bag, does look a little weird I must admit.

Who knows, perhaps those two decisions were worth $50,000,000 each to McLaren in a clandestine deal with the FIA and it's masters. 8)

Are you saying McLaren is in cahoots with the FIA? Isn't that Ferrari's role in the usual McLaren-supporters' conspiracy theories? Would be quite ironic...

It wasn't a serious suggestion Dali, hence the little emoticon man with the shades. Even though Texasmr2 said it was "ludicrous", which was perfectly correct, I doubt he actually sussed it either. You two should try to lighten up a bit.

Sonemonkey's theory on the other hand sounds perfectly plausible, don't you think? :)

Funny thread, Hamilton has been helped all along the season but wasn't allowed to win the champ...

Yes the accusation is completely ludicrous and without merit.

But you dont challenge this accusation that Hamilton was helped 'all along the season' as being ludicrous!

You're just too much man!
