Yea, Pat Fry was responsible for development of the McLaren MP4-22, which was the car developed, modified and adapted to the Ferrari files that miraculously appeared in the Macca's hands during Spygate. So, he's already pretty familiar with Ferrari's modus operandi. It should be a perfect fit!

But joking aside, yes that MP4-22 was a good sort-of-cheated car. However the two Macca car of late which have impressed are the MP4-23 that won the title in 08, and the current MP4-25. And - strangely enough - Pat Fry wasn't involved in the development of either one! That makes me wonder!!!!! I don't see him at Ferrari as the missing piece for immediate success. I see him as a valid engineer ... like several others in F1.

How is that so? the car was designed well before Goughlan got his hands on the Stepney hand me downs. Any advantage they gained was knowing Ferrari's weakness's and the emails about use of tyres between Stepney,DeLaRosa and Alonso.

The "sort-of" is just an innuendo that "something" happened to improve the vehicle from data obtained illegally as far as the FIA rules are concerned. Nobody with a sane mind can tell me that the Macca did not take advantage of that info in 2007, whether we're talking about CO2 in the tyres, or weight distribution, or brakes dymnmics, or whatever. Regardless of the compettive advantage or direct application of modifications on the 2007 version, some advantage was acquired in a not-too-orthodox fashion. That allows for my ambiguous use of the term "sort-of", which doesn't say much, but says a lot at the same time. And I am not arguing the semantics here.

as you said in your sort of innuendo, its too hard to say from the outside what if any improvements were made to the car itself, thus the initial WMSC meeting ending the way it did, the email traffic after Ferrari and Mosley opened the case up again for another WMSC meeting about setup improvements tyre pressures by Pedro and Fernando, but to say the car itself is cheated isn't fair to the car.

to the topic at hand, Fry has had 18 years at McLaren a new challenge in sunny Italy is probably a retirement move :hehe:

I think McLaren connection aside, Ferrari are just trying to strenghthen their technical team. A team which has recieved much critisim recently. So hopefully for Ferrari it's a good move.
