Greetings fellow F1 fans around the world, its PK and I'm a huge fan of Formula 1.
While I cherish all forms of motor racing, Formula 1 has always been my favorite sport since I was young. I am 24 years of age, I am currently a grad student at Eastern Michigan University and I am sales rep for MSC Industrial. My father has always been into cars, and drag racing was where he earned the name 'Fast Phil'. By the time I was born, he had stopped racing and focused on his career. I am very blessed to come from quite humble beginnings and witnessing my mother and father go on to have successful careers, and be financially set for the most part. I thank my dad for getting me into formula one because when I was young, he ordered Speed TV which was pretty expensive at the time and did not come standard on most cable packages back in the US. Nascar, NHRA, and IRL/CART as you could imagine were the most watched at the time. My dad stayed on top of things and as always found a way to get his F1 fix one way or another.
I can vividly remember being the only kid in school with a Formula One radio controlled car. I remember staying up late waiting for F1 to come on and seeing that beautiful red Ferrari driven by Michael Schumacher. I can remember earlier than that when Senna with McLaren because I always loved the Marlboro car and the success of McLaren. I first learned that F1 was unique and certain cars had V-12s, some Turbos, not all left turns
. I was very young, but I still admired the other drivers and was a fan of Senna, Hakinnen, JPM, Rubens, Alonso, etc. through the years and my love for the sport has never wained.
Fastforward to 2010, and I feel like a kid in the candy store. I feel the joy and anticipation as I once did, but at the same time it feels even better now that I can fully understand the technological aspects, and the risks these drivers face every millisecond. The athleticism, the preparation, the skill level, and the precision involved in the sport is virtually unmatched. A new golden age of F1 is now among us, despite the fact the FIA pisses fans off 24/7 and all of the technology starts to take away from the drivers...and in worst cases the cars become the stars of the show. That really infuriates all of us I'm sure. Yet and still, we still support and we never give up our love for F1 because some idiots that sit at desks all day. While I get to watch Schumacher, Alonso, Barrichello, Webber guys that I remember...I get the blessing of watching Adrian Sutil, Sebastian Vettel, Felipe Massa, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica, and many more of my favorite drivers come into their own. Look at Jenson Button, I've seen him struggle for so long, but he never gave up. He kept working on his racecraft and now look where he's at. I'm not a fan of every track, but places like Abu Dhabi and Singapore show what F1 is about. It's not just about putting on a show...It's about pushing the envelope. How else can F1 piss us off, but still throws us pleasant surprises every now and then. The media coverage in the states is far behind overseas (hopefully that will change soon) coverage, but the internet is the best thing that could of happened for the US F1 fan.
B4 this turns into a book, I just want to say thanks to the moderators, the members who have been here for a long time, the new members, and everyone apart of Formula1.net. Keep the news and the discussion coming, peace, and God bless from Michigan!
...oh one more thing sucks I wasn't born yet last time F1 was held in Detroit, but the years of watching CART/IRL on Belle Isle helped me get a glimpse of things to come; and now the new F1 track in Austin,Texas can't wait because my mother lives in Dallas now, and that will be a great way for some of my friends in Texas to witness F1 in person...not to mention MYSELF...

@ the Tigers game great view of the field. The beers are expensive I usually try to knock off two of them in the parking lot before entering lol. Greektown is in walking distance from the Stadium, usually this is where I spend time after games
Greektown

Inside walkway in Greektown. Also, the entrance into the casino.
