I don't get why everyone seems to be raving about Hamilton's lap when the gap was easily accounted for by the soft tyres. I tell you what though, i thought this track would be the most ideally suited to McLaren of all on the calendar, so it's kind of ominous about Red Bull's pace and ability to keep it up throughout the season and across all types of track. :(

From what i see, the only thing to keep a RB from the win is their brakes (or some rain lottery).

I don't get this, dont know if this has already been posted but hasn't Hamilton already been reprimanded? How many till a big penalty because this is rediculous clear breach on rules and he should be penalised. I mean Schumacher dealt the full brult of power making me think this new FiA system is slightly flawed.

The FIA has also enjoyed bending Hamilton over and violating him hardcore, like when they stole his win in Belgium a couple years ago, so if they backpedal a bit by going a bit softer on him.... *shrug* Besides, I didn't see him doing anything overly horrible. I just saw somebody letting his hair down a bit. In several other motorsports it would be normal and acceptable for a driver to celebrate by doing donuts out in the middle of the track or whatever, so sitting atop the car while it coasts along at half the speed of smell seems sort of trivial. Wanting to hammer him for it seems like just looking for any possible excuse to attack him.

Yes, I know he's had other reprimands before, but not for the same sort of thing. This isn't the tenth time he's coasted down the road while sitting atop the car, after all. Slap him on the wrist for it now and nail him if he does it again. Besides, from what I read it was a matter of the car not having enough gas left in it and him being told to stop the car, so it sounded to me as though he was given lemons and chose to make lemonade, or making the most out of the situation.

Come on, penalty for Hamilton? It was AWESOME. Best moment of the day. And I'm nowhere near of being a Hamilton fan. It just was. :D

You guys are great on this site and you all make great efforts on here specially the long term posters who I have been reading from for a long time. Good stuff from you all! oh well hoping for a great race tomorrow hope you all enjoy.

Nah, no point in giving Hamilton a grid penalty. He got pole, it was well deserved; no need to penalise anybody for something not racing related. Many cars have limped home after the race to save some fuel for sampling. A penalty because of the Petrov issue or the pit exit thing, would have been more understandable; but this was nothing....

looks like it's going to be hamiltons race, i'm really impressed with force india Liuzzi grabing 6th, and what a disappointment from shoemaker cutting that corner and not making to Q3,i guess he cant handle the pressure of the young generation anymore haha. Would really love to see kubica on the podium but that's very unlikely unless something goes wrong for the other dominating teams.

I have equal distain for blind love for Lewis and blind hatred of Lewis. The posts that reflect it are vomit inducing. Same goes for any driver or team for that matter.

I'm sure many of us would of done the same as Hamilton and sat on the car. Just look at Senna and Prost (I think) at the European/British GP in 92 or 93! One of them gave the other a lift back to the pits and that was at like 50MPH or something.

Finally, the streak of red bull poles was broken........However, I'm not really that ecstatic about LH's pole considering that he was using soft tyres.....Should be an interesting race later......

I'm quite surprised with the performance of Schumacher.......That was a bad performance during qualifying...........

I agree on that one. It is a bit of a gamble for Lewis and McLaren. Hopefully it pays off so we have a race!

The big question is; which of the four world champions will push a little too hard through the final chicane and end up in the wall of champions?

The way he's been going i'd suggest Alonso...!

For me it was the fact that at most races we've seen the same, red bull sand bagging then thrashing everyone in P3.But even if you takeaway the soft tyres 0.3 of a sec he was bang on there pace.McLaren normally close the gap a bit on race day so fingers crossed Lewis can win. Also the fact Button was 0.4 secs behind him in 5th shows just what he got out of the car.

Brawn needs to give up on the MGP W01 and start work on the MGP W02. Hopefully Mercedes can be a force in 2011. :(

Im asking this out of interest. Would lewis have been just as fast or faster on hards? Lewis seemed to me to be getting fast times from both sets of tyres. He was atop all sessions whatever tyres he was on or whatever tyres the others were on. Maybe the soft opt was for the safety car posibility? Stunning lap either way.

And i loved the car coasting and pushing. Why such stuffiness from the FIa? He was endangering no one.

Well the only good thing is I won't be yelling at the top of lungs for Schumacher to move up another spot at 2am-4am in the morning and waking up my family :P
