He's right. Although I think Hamilton is a little arrogant, it is because of his arrogance he would want to win the title on the track, not by default. And this is a good thing. To win this way is worse than the position he's in now. Fair play to him.

Oh get to hell, Lewis done a great Job he just a Rookie and had lead the championship all year. I really want Lewis to WIN 08. Lewis is a Great British gentleman. I am so proud of you Lewis Hamilton. I am so happy the British created American and not the Spainish.

Everyone's got an opinion on this forum, that's why its a discussion forum. If you don't agreed then back it with facts and info not childish name callings. IMO, Lewis is arrogant, don't you have to be to survive in F1?? BTW, the British didn't create America, the Indians where here first, then the Spaniards came with Columbus.

Williams F1 engineering director Patrick Head has admitted that he doesn't expect Fernando Alonso to remain with McLaren for the 2008 Formula 1 season ' regardless of the outcome of today's title decider at Interlagos.

The two-time champion heads into the race trailing rookie team-mate Lewis Hamilton by four points in the standings and will line up behind the Briton on the grid after Hamilton qualified second and the Spaniard could only manage fourth - with the other title hopeful Kimi Raikkonen splitting the McLaren pair on the grid.

However, despite the fact he could secure a third-straight title this weekend, doubts continue to exist over Alonso's long-term future with the team after the relationship between team and driver deteriorated in dramatic fashion - with Alonso having spoken out against his employers in the F1 spying row and having apparently been unhappy with what he feels is favouritism being shown towards Hamilton in his debut year.

Although the door has closed on a switch to Ferrari following the news that Felipe Massa has put to paper on an extension to his contract, Alonso's former employers Renault have said on more than on occasion that they would take the Spaniard back and Head told the BBC that he didn't expect to see him in a McLaren again next year.

"I would expect Alonso to either have a long time gardening next year or to go to another team," he said. "I suppose his relationship with McLaren boss Ron Dennis could be repaired, but I'd be surprised. I think it's unfortunate that it's got to this point, but that's the way it is."

Head added that he felt Ron Dennis and his team wouldn't have been anything other than fair with its treatment of both Hamilton and Alonso - saying that he felt Alonso's behaviour during the season wasn't that of a true sportsman.

"McLaren are a very, very fair team in the way they treat their two drivers," he said. "Fernando did not contemplate that there would be this young chap, Lewis Hamilton, who would be beating him, and he has reacted to that.

"From what I've seen, it does not look to me, or to many people in the pit-lane, as if Fernando has handled himself particularly well as a sportsman."

If you throw enough mud it sticks. Like I said in the other thread, it's just a bit convenient that Alonso is the bad guy. I'm not saying he's totally innocent but surely the situation is not as clear as it appears to be. I've seen situations like this before.

Guess Alonso can cross-off Williams from his list of probably drives in 2008.

It always takes two, but for all we know it might not be Hamilton but rather Dennis and his refusal to give number 1 status that kicked it all off. And it doesn't look like either party will back down and repair broken bridges, so that's it really.

Alonso didn't choose his battles well, Ron Dennis is a powerful guy with more weapons then Alonso in a straight fight.

Alonso shouldn't have bit the hand that fed him and he probably didn't realise how hard Dennis could punch back.

I also think there's more to this then meets the eye, lets not also forget Dennis would have had the backing of all the other team bosses in this situation, Alonso had to be made an example of.

I don't think Alonso is as bad as the press have made him out to be, but he's still at fault...

He threatened his team boss with incriminating evidence because he didn't get number 1 status. That's what this whole issue boils down to.

A purist would say yes Alonso came out with the truth and this was the right thing to do but we all know nobody likes a Rat. The British Press have come down on Alonso like a ton of bricks, which is to be expected.
