Is it just me, or do the wheels on an f1 car fall off more readily then they have done in the past? they don't bounce around as much still attached via the wheel restraint tethers like they used to?

The length of the tethers may have been reduced for the simple fact that the more 'freedom' they have too bounce around leads to more damage?
