If you ignore all the politics involved in this situation it was great to see team mates going wheel to wheel instead of holding station as normally happens. I thoroughly enjoyed the wheel to wheel action between Lewis and Jenson through a series of turns before the inevitable order to hold station came through from the McLaren garage!

The sad thing is this race will be remembered for the Webber/Vettel crash and the ensuing political fallout. When it should be remembered for some of the best racing we have seen in a few seasons (in the dry). Seems that Tilke got it right with this track; shame the promotion and ticket prices don't allow for ordinary Turks to attend the GP.

Its a lovely track to watch at and excellent to plan with a few days in Istanbul. I really hope they keep it. There are way worse on the calendar.I think the race will be remembered for more than redbullgate. But those political things always overshadow, its the way F1 has become.

I wouldn't go that far, to be honest. The only interesting moments in the race were the pitstops, an over-arrogant rookie taking himself out and costing his team mate the win, and a pair of team mates in identical cars swapping places for a few corners. And most of that was caused by the teams telling the drivers to turn their engines up and down!!

None of this adds up to "some of the best racing we have seen in a few seasons" nor provides proof that "Tilke got it right with this track".

No he didnt, Vetel put himself on the dirty side of the track, Mark held his line.

I like Whitmarsh's comments best-I wouldnt be cuddling a driver after he'd just done that.

And Lewis had a pretty good view of the action-he saw it ws Vettel.

And to reply to your other point you made in a post after the one quoted, Mr. Horner says that Vettel saved some fuel when he was in Hamilton's slipstream.

Whether that is true, i dont know.

I asked who? Whitmarsh? Horner? Lewis? No I didnt ask any of them I listened to their interviews.

It was great too see the McLaren boys being very mature, Lewis didn't do anything silly, just kept the speed up, Jenson was keeping up with Lewis's blistering speed and still kept a little bit back for his tires and then a nice fair scrap at the end. Lewis did seem a little Pis sed off after the race but racings racing and nobody got hurt.

I wouldn't go that far, to be honest. The only interesting moments in the race were the pitstops, an over-arrogant rookie taking himself out and costing his team mate the win, and a pair of team mates in identical cars swapping places for a few corners. I agree with Juliet, apart from those two moves by Vettel and Button the race it's self didnt offer very much TBH.

If you look at the video Lewis slides a little bit right and Jenson is as far out too the right as possible, AHhh I can be pedantic too , Lewis handled that perfectly even though IF he'd charged into Jensons side according to Red Bull psychology the guy who gets crashed into is to blame .

It looked like it from the original shot but i the replays from other angles i dont hink so.

There was other overtaking. Vettel past Lewis, lewis past Vettel,Michael past Button, Button past Michael, Alonso past Petrov, and others further down the field. Cant remember them all. I think Bruno pulled a move or two.
