Speed reported that Peter Sauber stated they weren't able to attract enough sponsors and that he doesn't know about the future of the team.
Would be a huge shame if they faltered. :crying: I wish one of the teams waiting in the wings to get admitted to the F1 circus would show an interest in forging a viable partnership with the Sauber team rather than starting a team from scratch - they have so much knowledge and experience incl. great infrastructure. The only thing missing is money to keep up the development race with the big boys. :banghead:

It would be a shame, they have good fascilities in Switzerland as you say any new team would be adventageous to link up with Sauber in some form!

It's unfortunate but as I said in another thread it's survival of the fittest in F1; and the financial climate doesn't allow for companies to invest money in F1 teams any more, many companies are struggling to stay afloat; let alone investing money in F1; not to mention the image of F1 is unattractive to potential sponsors after all the multiple scandals of recent years, maybe Bernie will invest to keep the Sauber name in F1; it'd be a better investment that HRT in my opinion.

Definitely would be a shame...such a nice looking car also, I was sure there would be a prominent logo of a faltering European financial institution on there somewhere by now.

F1 has always been a force unto itself and the day I see an Apple logo on an F1 car, I'm leaving. Lets get back to business, I say more leather chaps in F1

If you didn't leave when Benetton had their logo on the side of a car? Apple isn't any worse than that. Advertising is something that you do only when you need to, either to increase name recognition of a brand or to gain market share and a business will always opt for free advertising over paid advertising.

The thing with F1 is that the target audience is a bit more upmarket and therefore there is a premium advertisers have to pay for that. Makes it even tougher in a harsh global economy.

They should contact David Richards, that would be a brilliant partnership...

Thats not a bad idea.

I have the feeling that Dave Richards only wants to enter F1 as his own team, Pro-drive/Aston Martin. After the way he was treated by BAR back in the day!

After their performance today in Montreal, I've officially given up hope for Sauber, when I say hope I mean being a competitive mid field team.

:-D TWO sponsorship logos on Sauber's car today, Burger King and Mad Croc.

I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow!

Hasn't Burger King been there for a while?

Off and on. But now I can wash down that Whopper with a Mad Croc.

Kobayashi and de la Rosa didn't do the team any sponsor-friendly favours today. I don't think coverage of a sponsor's logo as the car is craned out of the gravel trap is what the money-men have in mind...

To be honest; the money men will take any publicity they can get. Sauber doesn't get that much air time compared to teams like Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull. I suspect that Kobayashi will scythe his way through the field as Sauber do have a reasonably fast car; expect at least one Sauber in the top 10 if it's dry, it seems that bother Sauber drivers look a little suspect in the wet so if there are changeable conditions who knows where they'll end up!
