As for Tilke?
Why? yes he's a good designer. Buthe already has his more than fair share at F1 tracks.
Dont see a reason for F1 to marry one exclusive designer. i think the fans and drivers would appreciate different design approaches..... variety is nice.

Herman seems to have a 'lifetime' contract with Bernie doesn't he?

I dont think anyother firm would 'win' a proposal against Tilke though. Based on his experience alone... but simply appointing him to all F1 tracks is going to end up monotonous. Tilke's facilities are top notch, but the tracks themselves are STERILE. It doesnt even matter if its 1-2 or even 3 tracks, but when ALL the tracks end up with the same philosophy its boring.

To me his design approach is more of a perfectly "made" track, rather than an "occurring" track. F1 needs more occurring tracks.

I agree with you as Tilke seems to be designing from an artistic aspect, F1 needs a current or past F1 champion to assist in the designs, too much Chi and not enough real racing.

Actually we Texans have recieved a more amorous greeting than a negative one, so far, which is highly appreciated by myself . F1 forever regardless of where it is held .

Tilke's tracks are designed to give spectators a great view of the circuit, which is ace if you like watching a procession because, statistically, there is no overtaking on Tilke-designed tracks.

Your only focusing on the supposedly negative aspects of the Austin GP Fred_C_Dobbs and every GP worldwide has its negative aspects so how about just being happy for the US??

Okay, they have great food and a vibrant music scene.

I agreed that I'm not enthused about another Tilke bore track but in all honesty that is something beyond our control.

You're right about that... I heard a story about how the corkscrew came about at Laguna Seca and the story goes that the road crew was told to get from point A to point B while the management was away and someone in the crew decided to get to point B, the quickest way... down the side of the hill instead of around it. That now famous design aspect "occurred".

You're right about that... wow, funny story... guess those same road crew guys should get re-hired for Tilke's TX track construction

Wow...I'm in a state of shock. I live only 8 hours away from Austin. Happy to hear F1 is coming so close to me. But I hope they don't schedule the race during the middle of the summer like Indy. It can get really humid and hot down there in June. I've been to Austin numerous times. The culture there is so different from the rest of Texas, you would be surprised.

I just learned some interesting news that the Austin GP will be sort of a homecoming for the least expected of drivers, Karun Chandhok. His mother is from San Antonio and his grandparents still live there so he is a Texan by bloodline .
