Indy car driver Danica Patrick admits she is unlikely to ever race in F1 because of the 'unfriendly' atmosphere.

Patrick, who was the first woman to win an Indy car race, has been linked in the past with a move to Formula One but the 28-year-old reveals she is put off the sport by the often icy tone in the F1 paddock.

"Something that's very important to me is having fun." Patrick told The Sunday Times.

"I think the environment of F1 is a little bit less friendly than American racing. In F1, you just don't see the drivers hanging out. Drivers such as Takuma Sato, who came over after doing F1 for a while, says everyone's so nice here. And it's true - everyone is so calm, relaxed and friendly."

Despite learning her trade in Briton where she participated in the Formula Vauxhall and Formula Ford series for three years, Patrick insists it was an experience she neither enjoyed nor would want to repeat.

"As soon I was old enough to race cars, I took it to the next level. I was told that I could learn more in a year in the UK than I could in five years in the United States," she explained.

"It felt much more old-school over there [in Britain], though. Women still cooked and cleaned. I feel the women's movement happened a little faster over here [in America].

"I remember I was the quickest one day in practice, and one of the team owners I drove for couldn't believe it. To the male drivers he was like, 'She's the quickest - what are you doing? Get out there, go!' as if it wasn't okay to be slower than me," she adde

Yep F1 is very unfreindly nothing to do with the fact your an average Indy car Driver at best and wouldn't be able to cope in F1.

She isn't that old either she talks as if comming to the UK was like going back to the 70s

I guess her beef is with the fact the in F1 you're rewarded for results and not nearly as much for your "looks" as you are in other forms of motor sports.

hardly best finish is 5th in championship and she's got 1 point finish this season.

She's an Average Indycar driver, which means she'd get mullered in F1 not because she's a woman thats just her ablity

Very very true and in all honesty I never saw her making the move to F1 in the first place. If she had the slightest inkling to persue F1 and if Bernie wanted her it would have already happened. She has already done the 'euro tour' and found it to be not worth experiencing again.

On a skill basis I think she is underrated and has asmuch skill and more than all the overrated drivers that are allowed into F1 just to be a 'blue flagger'.

Indycar is perhaps more Fan Freindly but thats not what she's talking about. She can only comment based on what she's heard from Taku Sato he says Indy car is more freindly fair enough..

F1 is the pinicle of competative motorsport.

Its got the most agressive drivers on the planet racing to win, if you want freindly go watch world cup tiddlywinks its a silly argument on her part.

The fact is however she's using it as a reason that she isn't comming to F1.

But the truth is as a driver danica patrick is not good enough to make it in F1, she might get a few points but she'd never win a race.

Just what we need, another loud mouthed back marker blaming the world for her own lack of skill. No thank you. Let her stick to Nascar, Indy or whatever...it's all the same. All show and no go....just where a glitzy full of herself drama queen like her belongs.

I still remember the scene of her stomping down the hot pit lane intent on giving some man a piece of her very little mind. As if she was going to kick his butt or something....comedy at its greatest. She should stay where she is....she doesn't have the skillset to do anything more difficult.

If all the teams were tripping over each other for her she would not be saying this. But they are not. To get that you need to win the indy 500 in your rookie year, get ROTY, then sweep the series in one more season, like JV did. No one that matters in F1 wants her that bad so she's saying it's she that doesn't want to come to F1.
