Read something about this at work today,was going to post about it but you've saved me the trouble.

Thing is is it worth it ? We've tried US gp's before and they havn't been very popular.Do you think having it Eastsdie will make any difference?.Not meaning to be anti US,I would love for F1 to big over the pond.

Do you think its a closed market with Nascar and Indy?.

It would be close to Canada/Montreal, so some crazy Canadian fans may well make their way down

Heh... Ommegang Abby Ale somehow I think I would chuckle uncontrollably every time I take chug and read the name. Ok maybe it would take three or four of them for the uncontrollably part.

F1 will die again if they go to a track 99.9% of Americans never heard of. This was the problem with F1 in Indy, while race fans are familiar with Indy, F1 needs the mass to come inorder for F1 to survive in the US and the mass didn't come, yes attendance was up in Indy but it didn't sale out. They need to make F1 exciting for the US market and what's the best way to do it then a street circuit. Look at what street ciruits did for Singapore, Spain, and Monaco, F1 need to race on the streets of Long Beach, Las Vegas Strip, Pier 39 San Francisco, New York, etc.. The city will support F1 because of all the revenues that it will bring including thousands of people lodging, dining, and entertaining themselves in the city instead of a private venue (monticello, indy) making 90% of the revenue. I've been to Indy, it was boring. We flew in on Friday, check into the hotel and went to track until Sunday, we ate either at the hotel or the track, the hotel and Indy made money off of us but the city didn't because it was just a boring place to be. If CART can race on the streets of Long Beach or Silicon Valley, why not F1?

Because CART didn't require pit garages with air conditioning and flat screen tv's. I actually think Long Beach is a nice place for F1, only problems are the facilities and the wannabe indycar series known as the IRL has a contract with LB til 2013 I believe.

Those are minor details. F1 garages are portable so I don't see a problem with them setting it up or a little $$ from the venture would upgrade to F1 standard. Look at the current street circuits, its still streets with barriers and a couple of plush booths for the teams.
