If you just need something to get to/from work a motorbike is way better than a quad, imo. Cheaper and way easier to park, especially in Nottingham... (used to commute to the centre every day, it's horrible!). Oh and you can cut through all that sodding traffic on the A453/through Clifton etc etc etc.... (i'm assuming your mate lives in Nottingham!!)

I used to have a Gilera DNA looks like a bike but is a scooter and you used to be able to ride them with a CBT with a restrictor.

or the Aprila RS50

Now if you passed your test before 2001 your good to go, otherwise you'll need to a cbt.

Not sure if you need L Plates if you have a full licence though.

you CAN NOT use motorways.

My place is on the A610. So would need something that is 125cc. So looking @ either the

RS125 or NSR125?

Or some little mini like this,
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

why 125cc your restricted to 30mph with cbt so may aswell get a 50cc bike.

If you want to ride faster than 30mph you have to do a bike test A1 or A

And when i say restricted you have to fit a restrictor to keep the BHP down if you get caught without it your risking your licence.

Moped licence
A moped is defined as a vehicle that must not exceed 30mph, weigh more than 250kg or have an engine over 50cc. The definition for machines registered before 1 September 1977, also includes its propulsion by pedals. You can ride a moped at 16 years old on a provisional motorcycle licence with moped entitlement. You must complete CBT (compulsory basic training), the theory test and the practical moped test to get a full moped licence.
