The Schumacher myth

The Schumacher LEGEND:wink: , he is no myth like it or not.

He is a legend that is true. But the idea that he alone can overcome teams is a myth and one used too often to glorify his title years.

Sounds like the myth of Lewis Hamiltons brigade to me but whatever  .

When you are fanatical about a driver it is easy look at it through tinted spectacles.

The facts stack up, he alone did not bulldoze the rivals.

I suppose the same could be applied to Lewis considering he could not win the title last year as his team did not produce the package.

Very true Ewan its very hard to win the title in anything but the best car.

However Lewis did win some races, which Schumacher has yet to do...

To be fair Schumacher did the same thing in 1996t. Both drivers are arguably up there as the best in the sport's history but no man can move a mountain. And any suggestion that Schumacher will simply destroy his opposition soon is laughable.

Had the myth existed he'd have turned up in Bahrain and blew everyone away. Whether the car was tenths off or not.

I just can't see how Lewis can be claimed to be 'arguably up there as the best in the sport's history'. How can that even be imagined? What has he done that can possibly raise the argument that he rates with Senna, Schuey, etc. He barely won one championship, lost another when by any reasonable mindset he should have had it in the bag, and other than that....has done no more than half the other drivers on the circuit. Jacques Villenueve produced as many championships as Hamilton has and didn't have nearly as many glaring mistakes.

Don't get me wrong, he can certainly drive a car....but arguably up there as the best in the sport's history? That is a far stretch at this point. Maybe he will get there, but he isn't there yet.

I Think its unfair to compare Lewis with JV

Jacques won a championship then never won a single race afterwards, Lewis did.

the MP4-23 wasn't the best car either the F2008 did with the WCC after all.

JV did about 8 million miles of pre season testing in the '97 Williams and that car was sublime, he didn't do anything in any other car, enough said.
