What has it been banned for? Why not just fine the teams or punish them if they're shown to "not have drivers in proper control of the vehicle" or something. Why has the technology itself been banned?

Reckon my RX8 could take your Imaginary Posh Beetle around Laguna Seca.I'm all for the ban.
Oh great so the muppet gets to threaten to "ban" me because hes a insecure but i get two warnings for stating the obvious?
Have a title in hand? Lets find out. I'm not kidding. I'll race an internet tough guy like you for titles any day of the week. I'll even trailer out to Cali to do it. Surely there is an open track weekend or two available at Laguna where some car enthusiast club will allow access for a bet like this. Their president can hold the titles while we have a go.
And Tex said he was in favor of the F-DUCT ban....you childish attention seeking whining baby. If you had bothered to read the thread, or even just the thread title you would have understood what he wrote. He wasn't talking about banning you dipshit...take an english class or something.
How you can attack a mod like this with no repercussion is beyond me entirely. Apparently this board has a bit looser rules than I imagined.

Define proper control of the vehicle. Before the arrival of automatic gear shifting, drivers used to take one hand off the steering wheel to shift countless times during a race.

And the majority of racing done on this planet still uses standard transmissions. It doesn't take a death grip to hold a car in a straight line. In a corner, without power steering, especially if a curb is involved then I could maybe see the argument, though even then many many high speed corners involve an upshift and many double apexes require a downshift while turning. Until a driver loses control or even has a bobble due to one of these innovations, I see no reason to call them dangerous. They are banning the ducts because they make the cars faster...and over the last decade they have continuously taken measures to make the cars slower. Those measures, for the most part are overtaken by new innovations each year but had they not made the rule changes...the cars would be far faster today than they are.
I think they are going in the wrong direction with all of these spec'd parts though. I would rather see narrower tires, higher ride heights and smaller brakes which would lead to longer braking zones and more overtaking maneuvers. The majority of passes in any race series are performed under braking...but the modern F1 car has brakes and downforce that have shortened the braking zone to practically nothing. That leaves draft passing on the straights, but most aren't long enough and apex passing which isn't possible due to downforce falling off as they get up close which causes the car to push wide.
I'm convinced the answer is longer braking zones which can only be achieved with smaller brakes, smaller brake ducts, narrower tires. Also, bring shorter life span tires to every race...think super soft and sticky...better for overtaking when sticky, wear faster so better for overtaking when the guy in front of you has cooked his tires and the short lifespan means more pit stops, so more pit stop overtaking.
how unsafe is that though? I am sure most road car drivers out there have taken both hands off the wheel whilst driving. Even so if it leads to driver errors then it will lead to more overtaking
I'm all for the ban.

This is worrying.
Just for the record Gaz asked me how I felt about the F-duct ban and I said I'm all for it. I have no explanation of how it was misinterpreted for the other ban but I have nothing to do with those by choice. My opinion of the F-duct ban is meaningless because it is a done deal, I just wanna watch the racing.

You really should go back and read what was written. Perhaps have your mommy come in and read it over for you as well. You got it wrong. You still have it wrong, and you look like a bigger idiot with every word you write. It's as plain as the sun in the sky that he was talking about the actual topic of this thread...whereas you are just acting our your tough guy fantasies on the internet.
