Wasnt pushing... he got the Fastest lap, about...... how many laps before he crashed?
You're right; he wasnt pushing. he gets Fastest laps without even trying.

I was thinking the same thing...

He wasnt pushing the car, he wasnt trying to catch Webber. Webber will have slowed at that point as well and Vettel had had repeated calls to slow down . Do you not think fastest laps might come at the end of a race when fuel is used up? Whats your problem with this?

No problem at all. Really, i dont see the fuzz made. Lewis was trying to catch Webber, and yet he wasnt pushing. He set the Fastest Lap and still wasnt pushing. He wasnt pushing the car and yet the wheel failed... I can tell you something: Alonso was pushing.
So, what is wrong with either Lewis or Alonso pushing??

I said i BELIEVE the reason the wheel failed was either because Lewis was pushing the car and wore his tires; or he was pushing and overstressed the rim. Nothing far-fetched... not even hateful.

Yeah, come on. You can't blame Lewis for an exploding tyre. It's not like anyone could have predicted that would happen or even began to prevent it. Lewis drove a very good race and deserved second. It was just a very unluckly situatuion.

Not a great day for McLaren really. Button getting stuck behind Schumacher. I'm sure many where quick to critise him, but at least he gave it a damn good shot. Barcelona is far from an easy place to overtake, so I wouldn't really critise him for it.

One thing that does irk me, is the pit stops, and how it seems to only way to gain posistions today was by benefiting from someone else having a botched stop. But ah well, thats the way it is.

Alonso still doing a good job for Ferrari. It was really a win for Alonso today, doing well at circuit where Ferrari didn't look so good. Massa though is deffinetly struggling and I really hope he can sort out the issue. He mentioned he had no feel in the car at some point. I can only hope that it's nothing related to his accident last year and that he'll be back on the pace soon.

It wasn't a great race, but it could have been so much worse.

mate you deliberately not reading or just wanting it to be a Hamilton f*** up? see what i mean about Vultures....

Failure of rims has nothing to do with pushing too hard. a tyre will fail before the rim simple!

Then how come the rim failed and not the tire? and how come it has happened to Mclaren 2x in the same circuit.

Fact is, we dont know how the suspension/brakes etc in each car load the rims. We all know the Mclaren has had better mech grip than the other cars... it CAN be that the way the Mclaren handles (ie loads) the rims caused them to break this one. Could it be a manufacturer error? hmmm yes, it could. At Barcelona, again? yes it could. But I bet there is much more happening than whatever they will let known from the official report from the accident.

Now, go do some flag-waving and stop worrying about the Anti Lewis vultures :D:wink:
(ie dont worry so much about what people say about Lewis and rather enjoy a good win from your fellow man)

Overstressing a rim is very evry very far fetched

Trying to catch Webber?

arghh i give up :banghead:

Or improve the gap to Alonso, who had gotten some green laps on him. (doesnt matter which! after all Webber could have run into similar issues as Vettel, so it would not have been stupid to push.) In anyway, what I say is that Lewis was not in the same position as Alonso where his nearest rival was over 20 secs behind and the guy in front only some secs ahead; I dont think he (Lewis) would have been stupid by pushing. i've never said he did anything wrong, nor that there was anything wrong in pushing.

But you guys are looking to make me sound like I am crapping on Lewis, because I think the wheel failure was probably not all down to it just simply failing, but rather the combination of how Lewis had to not cruise and tha Mclaren probably working its wheels harder. Believe what you want though....

I DO think Vettels failings are partly down to him being a car breaker. Am i a Vettel hater?
