I would not get the first generation of a sony, the first gen ps2 were crap, unreliable, lasers burning out in months....

I've had a first gen PS1,2 and 3. No problems with any of them, but then I've not had the red lights of death on my 360, so maybe I'm just lucky.

The Elite is the black 360. Bigger HDD and other little toys.

I'm sure plenty of them work OK, but I have seen many 1st gen consoles that work for less than 6 months, Ok under warranty, but still agro.

It was second gen PS1's that had all the problems. They replaced the metal disc holder with a plastic one that warped. Sony then turned around and said if your PS1 goes wrong in the first xx months we will take it back and give a reconned one. Needless to say the reconned ones had the metal part back.

PS3 is great. Colin McRae - DiRT and F1CE are both amazing games. PES2008 is also ace on the PS3.

I prefer the PS3 for driving games, the 360 is better for shooting games.

Better games on 360 plus sadly for f1 gaming fans. The f1 video game is gonna be come exclusive for 360

I prefer the PS3 for driving games, the 360 is better for shooting games.

I can't stand driving games so can't really comment....however give me a mouse and keyboard any time for shooting games

I've been playing Warhawk and Resistance: Fall of Man on the PS3 lately and they are so hard it's unreal - I'm getting my rear-end kicked every time I go online.

I think I'll stick to my Nintendo consoles in future
