First of all, I do believe that a lot of sports are being manipulated. I used to watch a lot of soccer (I'm from Argentina and now living in Germany so imagine how a big a fan I am/could be...).
Anyway, in the last years there where some manipulation scandals in soccer  . Not only in Germany but in some other European countries as far as I know. Some referee got even to jail because of that  . And at the end of last year there was a big investigation going on saying that even Champion League matches could have been manipulated. But most of the cases are believed to happen in the "not-so-well-paid-divisions".
My point here is: if there are known matches that are manipulated then it is highly probable that behind our backs there is much more manipulation going on.

Now to F1:How could it be possible to manipulate here? One point could be race strategies. But a lot of times you see how close drivers/cars are to each other on the track. The lap times differ less than a second. So it should be quite tough to drive "a tiny bit" slower or not...

And apart from what we've seen in Singapore or even further back in Austria (Barrichelo: let him pass for the championship)... could there be "more" manipulation. And if yes, where and how?

I mean, there are so much money involved, so many companies, and so much concern about F1. How likely is it?

Of course, the possibility exists. I was thinking about it with the Red Bull-suspension saga... And also when they allowed the DDiffuser.
Maybe even that pass on Glock? ;) but I doubt it
I guess its good for the sport when other teams are allowed to win, so there may be some artififical shaking up.

I'm not sure though, I'd like to think its all fair...

Yeah, I'd like that too!!

The "organizations" that really have the power to manipulate are the "illegal betting companies". As I said before, there is so much money involved. If it happens in other sports why not in F1???

Not really, no.

How can you tell???

Money involved in F1, only what they rake in. It's like the WWE of motorsport, they con us with these supposedly huge sums the teams reportedly pump into development but under the random shaped bodywork they all have the same chassis and engine with no development work, they manipulate the results by remote control, boosting one car or breaking another and make up scandals to increase media coverage and increase interest.

REALLY????

Please tell me you are joking?

I thought that was common knowledge, everyone's in on it, all the teams, the drivers, the FIA. They race these cars that are worth next to nothing but claim they're worth hundreds of millions in development (yeah right) and rake in everyone's cash, even the little guys get their share.

I distinctly remember Eddie Irvine saying after the Piquet crash scandal that this was simply the first time a team had been caught cheating.

I suspect things have happened that we don't know anything about. But for my own sanity, I'd like to think I'm wrong, and that F1 is all good and honest.

There's a big difference between people cheating and the whole sport being manipulated.

i agree there is a big difference, and yet this was still covered up for almost a year. it shows an ability to cover up things and if its there then i think we can assume it has been used, on what sort of scale i wouldn't like to guess.
