Curious about what the feeling of the forum community is on this. I can't help but feel disgusted by the guy. (that's my opinion) It's a case of the FIA wanting to sweep it all under the rug, whether the moral issue is addressed or not. I guess they feel an apology is all that was required... which is bizarre since there's no admission of guilt or any kind of remorse whatsoever.

I don't see the problem... to much ado about nothing....!

Do you really belive Briatore (and Simmonds and Piquet) were the only ones ever to "manipulate" a race??? I still belive it was an excelent move by Briatore and Co. in Singapore 2008. But the way it was done, was wrong. Putting pressure on Piquet and so on....
Remember Schumacher??? Did he never tried to manipulate a race??? He even got disqualified of the championchip!!! But he still was allowed to drive in F1. Or do you remember Barichello letting Schumi win the Austrain GP??? "Let him pass for the Championhip" were the words of J. Todt (FIA PRESIDENT!!!). EVEN HE "manipulated" a race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean, what do you have a team for???? To do TEAM-WORK!!!! So, if I know I have a bad driver who won't score points on a given race, and the other driver have the chance of wining the race... why don't use any oportunity to "manipulate".

So, if Briatore wants to come back or not, I don't care, let him do whatever he wants, but stop making a fuzz about it!!!!

I can see where you're comming from. It's the two faced front of F1. If the colour suits then go ahead sir, if it doesn't then you're banned, or you're fined. Make it legal,or make it illegal but PLEASE a little consistency!.

It's not the fact that the race was manipulated, we all know that happens time and time again; it was the fact that he endangered his driver (Piquet) and other drivers/spectators/marshalls etc. Am I surprised to see Briatore planning on making a return? NO; do I really care; NO, he is rather insignificant cog in the machine that is F1.

Yeah... sorry... Next time I'll keep it to myself... :crying:

Don't go doing that; we like opinions; without opinions it makes this here forum a dull place...

@racechick: I think you're getting off topic.....
@myownalias: it was kind of ironic. But the point of "endangering" other people does apply to allot of people in F1. And that lot aren't being put against the wall. So why do it with Briatore??? He was the one who got 4 chamiponchips.... That's a good thing. He may be insignificant. But then again, there are a lot like him (insignificant); and without that sort of people, you wouldn't have a machine runing.... (and therefore no F1) so, you need them.

Ok, thanks for the little reminder QKS.

I asked for opinions so thanks for chiming in. Your arguments though are not apples to apples, it's one thing about letting someone else pass for the good of the sport, it's one thing to have teammates help out but your argument opens the door for tactics like this to be performed every other race, does that benefit anyone? It also dangerously border on what... next step is purposely taking someone out, clip a wing, rear end him so the teammate can win?

Briatore is slimy, but as long as we know there are people like that to look out for it's just part of life and it's just part of racing, the FIA cr@pped all over this too and that's why they're willing to let it all be water under the bridge. I hope Piquet does drag him into court.
