F1 needs to go back to basics and look at what used to allow for overtaking instead of trying to invent new ways to artificially generate excitement - like Ewan said in the last cast.

Next time they re-write the rule book they need to make sure they tighten them up so we don't get all of the clever aerodynamicists who don't care about the quality of racing exploiting loop-hole after loop-hole and leaving us with the situation we had last year where the quality of racing overall was badly affected as soon as everybody turned up with "the dreaded double diffuser".

That double diffuser screwed the intention of the regs, they should have said no to it, but once again politics prevailed.

It can't be that hard to make racing exciting. I'm not particularly fussed if they have to shave 20-30mph off the top speeds of these cars, as long as there's the balance between excitement, technological advancement and danger, it's all good stuff.

Well what does square one mean. Cause if you think about it, thats almost what they've been trying to do. They're trying to get F1 to be quite similar to the late 80's early 90's. Slick tyres, no re-fueling, less aero, lower budgets.

I mean we can sit here in our armchairs, and complain like a bunch of grumply old mean, but the fact is, F1 can't listen to and follow every suggestion thrown at it. If it did it'd be more of a mess.

Also, why are we complaining really. 2007 and 2008 were amazing and unforgettable seasons. 2009 was good season also, whilst 2010 is shaping up to another great season. The probelm is, throw one bad race in there, and all of a sudden the internet fanboys got crazy. Honestly, boring races happen, they always have and they always will. If you don't like what you see, you don't have to watch it.

Yes you are soooo right. Bahrain might have been a boring race but it's still F1. And yes 2007 and 2008 were the best seasons since I started watching

They have tried to go back to square one, but they haven't instead they've gone back to somewhere like square five and then rolled a double six.

They didn't do enough when writing up the 2009 regulations, they should have widened the cars and tightened up all the silly little loopholes when they had a chance - and eliminate the double diffuser. Even Ross Brawn even offered to help, but did they listen? No.

Good plan, and I agree with some of it


Safety, who needs that, lets sort the men from the boys, You might have a car that can lap silverstone in a minute flat, but if your driver is scared for his own life to do more than 100mph then you will need to make is safer.

Budgets are hard to police. Hello my name is Mercedes Motor Company, I am designing an engine for my road car that has cost us 100 million, now we are going to sell it to our F1 team for the cost of a mcdonalds happy meal.

I think F1 teams should all use the Virgin sized fuel tank for the rest of the year, that will make it more interesting.
