It's a tough one this because you can look it from both sides us and ITV

They have a legacy to there sponsors to have adverts and are payed good money for them so they have a right to show them

After all Football and Rugby is 90 and 80 minutes long with a 15 minute break inbetween while a race is 2 hours long and no break. The breaks in a GP are not as long as they are in a Football game probablys half of that so instead of showing one long break they do it in bits so there is less chance of any of the action being missed. EG... You've got more chance of missing action in a 4 minute break than you have in a 30 second break

I can see how it upsets people when it does happen though like i remember the Silverstone incident when you saw 2 seconds of a guy running on the track then a break which keeps you wondering for 30 seconds what is going on lol

Yeah, true. Split Screen is banned in the UK aint it? But they use it on the continent, does it have much affect?

Really?! I didn't know that...

I'm not sure split screen would be a good thing - advertisers might pay less because attention will not be focused on the ads which means that ITV might then bring more ads to the fold to make up for the ad budget deficit....

Have to say I've been impressed with ITV's coverage until today. I know they have little control of directors when accepting broadcasts from another country, but we managed to miss so much of the action.

Then the adverts compounded the issue as we missed even more. Very frustrating, but you cannot see anyone but SKY affording F1 nowadays so ad's are here to stay. The short track at Brazil didn't help matters with the quantity of ads.

To the American fans - do you guys get ad breaks like that?

Yup, we sure do. SpeedTV had the worst timing today for missing events.

I saw the whole thing happen live. When ITV went for another break , i quickly switched to Setanta Sports and right there Hamilton was going slowly.

Best channel to go for IMHO.

I missed Hamilton with the engine problem, Nakajima hitting his crew, Kovalainnen (sp?) cutting off Yakamoto and various other battles. Now fortunatly, TSN in Canada covers the race also. They were on different commercail breaks then Speed was. Speed is usually pretty good, however it was frustrating to watch today with their bad timing and other features they did rather than the race.

I did not watch live. I was at work. I PVRed it. I recorded the TSN broadcast. It's just the ITV feed. Not only did we lose the LH slowdown, we missed Kimi's last pitstop, that brought him out ahead of Massa. If I were watching live, I would switch to SPEED when a commercial hit. I don't know what that would havw netted me today. I don't like listening to Bob Varsha and David Hobbs for 2 hours, though I have a lot of respect for Steve Matchett.

TSN's sound was half a second behind the video today. THAT, was frustrating.

I personally like Speed better. I cannot stand it when Vic Router (sp?) (from TSN)sticks his nose in. I just like Varsha and crew better. Especially when David Hobbs puts in his sound effects LOL.
