I :banghead: am :banghead: so :banghead: sick :banghead: of :banghead: tabloid :banghead: "journalism" :banghead: masquerading :banghead: as :banghead: sports :banghead: coverage :banghead: !

yup, the media does have a way of making the most out of a very tiny situation, which is why I refuse to ever buy a news paper

Try it, it is a good laugh

He was lucky that the call paid off, but he was the only guy who had the guts to take that gamble so early on. He was the one that made it work for him, looking after the soft tyres for fifty laps and still finding extra speed from them towards the end of the race, dropping his lap times by a tenth or so. He drove a brilliant race and you just can't take that away from him. Much like Hamilton's drive in Monaco two years ago, it was the kind of race you remember a driver for.

If this if that..... Thats motor racing there is no luck!

end of the day Button crossed the finish line ahead of the rest so you cant fault him or any winner for that matter!

It's a strange feeling, but it's one of those times when we agree with one another :P

I saw this thread hopping to find some RAGE from Jenson Button; instead got some in jensonb's post.... :hehe:
Quick, hurry to the tabloids: jensonb is FURIOUS!

:drink:

JENSONB SLAMS SH***Y JOURNALISM

I wouldn't say Button was lucky, he made his tyres last nearly the whole race distance. Yeah Hamilton overtook him, but Hamilton's exuberant and aggressive driving style cost him as he chewed up those tyres quickly.

nope mate, Button was overtaken by Lewis when they were on interers.

Jenson was having issues on his Inters.

As Jenson put it Gaz:

"If the rears are getting worn, it must be dry".

He was right.

Talk about burying the lead.

Where's the "BUTTON RAGE!!!!!!! :irked::irked::irked::irked::twisted::twisted::twisted::banghead::banghead::banghead: GRRR RARGH!?!?! SNARL?!" in the article?

With a headline like that, one expects to hear Jenson has turned green and thrown a car at a building screaming "JENSON ANGRY! JENSON SMASH PUNY JOURNALISTS!" and we get...Him politely disputing the idea that his win was solely based on luck. This is like when we heard Webber "SLAM HAMILTON'S 'WEBBER WILL RETIRE' CLAIMS" - you know, where he said, very calmly, he knew what Lewis was saying, but politely refuted the rumour.

I :banghead: am :banghead: so :banghead: sick :banghead: of :banghead: tabloid :banghead: "journalism" :banghead: masquerading :banghead: as :banghead: sports :banghead: coverage :banghead: !

You'd need serious brain damage to chalk that win down to pure luck. Enough said.

I think every driver that win every gran prix is lucky.

Not to say that skill is not involved, because it is.

Vettel will be lucky to win a race if his car does not fail him. Im not saying he is not a skillfull driver.

There have been great drivers who should have won a GP but never did, due to luck... Bad luck.

Anyone who wins without cheating deserves it and is lucky at the same time because Murphy's Law is all up in them F1 guts!!!

It was luck and chance,it wasn't his superior driving that won him the race. People seem to conveniently forget that he had just been overtaken by his team mate who had come from 11th on the grid,he had to do something so he took a gamble. Let's see if Button can come up with the goods this weekend,i have a strong feeling he will be back to his usual place on the grid,Lewis will not be distracted by petty Australian cops hoping to unsettle him before the race.

The article on the front page of this site sums it up nicely. :)

Wrong, it was Button's superior racing style that won him the race and their two driving styles really showed in Australia. Button's driving style was smooth and he didn't need another pitstop for tires, Hamilton on the other hand was aggressive and attacking because he needed to move up the field from 11th. Hamilton'r race was lost when he battled Kubica too aggressively for too long and caused his tires degradation hence the extra pitstop. Button sumed it up best on Sunday when asked about LH's tantrum after Australia, "If LH didn't want another pitstop, get pass Robert".

You cant deny that if Vettel had stayed in the race and followed the same strategy as Webber he would have been behind Jenson on a fairly fresh set of tyres and based on the pace of Webber, Hamilton and Rosberg he would have been going significantly faster than Button and this could have lead to a battle for first place.

It wouldn't be fair to call the win 'lucky'. Jenson did well to keep his head through the mess and taking the risk (calculated?) to do something different..

But hope he enjoys this win as much as he can....as the comparison between him and Lewis on track was very telling. If Lewis finishes behind or anywhere close to Jenson in this years WDC standings I will be shell shocked. :yikes:
