I find it odd we have a 10 plus page thread about Hamilton getting 6th when he could have got second or third but no discussion about Vettel and how for the last two seasons the reliabily of the Red Bull has cost him not only a WDC but now 2 race wins at the start of this new season.

If i was Vettel id be waying up my options atm

Pfft. Come back when he can overtake and put together a race which doesn't depend on pole. Alonso, Hamilton & Button could wipe the floor with him.

Exactly....I would even say in Malaysia that Massa would be able to over take him....Vettel is not talented, he's a 1 lap man...& he is one of those drivers that is just talented due to the car...He will be the driver to drive for Ferrari one day and just be great because of the car....

But for now, Lets hope Horner can't sort the car & he will be a 2005 Kimi Raikkonen

[suitcase]

& he is one of those drivers that is just talented due to the car...

If so, how is it possible that he won in Italy (2008) for Toro Rosso? Because I honestly wouldn't say that Toro Rosso has a victorious car. But I didn't watch the race, so I have no idea.

Luck.....And that is what it is, i have seen people win due to luck. & the other have not been capable. It is very interesting and a good point you have brought up, but there have been so many occasions were people have won. Fisi in a jordan, @ Brazil? Luck...

[vaptin]

Lewis argues with his team and he's still boring... so what?

your on dangerous territory there.

How was it luck that he put a poor car on pole and still managed to control the race and win. If you think about all the other things that where stacked against him. It is not as if Torro Rosso is like Mclaren and used to winning and making all the right calls. Torro Rosso had to fly by the seat of their pants to get that win because they where well out of their comfort zone.

Fisi/Jordan/Brazil win was luck, if the red flag had come out a few moment later then Kimi iirc would of won.

Controlling the car @ a good speed and keeping it up for a good period of time is good, it takes 2 to tango. The Torro Rosso obviously had something good that day and so did Vettel, he is not a talented man. Last year he gravelled the car in heavy rain? If it feel good and is more dominating & faster no one has any chance. But Alonso is what we call talent....Hamilton is talent from what he showed the other weekend. Vettel does not show that to us, he's fast but crashes and is too excited and when one thing gets him down the whole car fails. He's just like a teenager and does not know the meaning just 'Yet'

[Jabberwocky]

so because he is immature as a driver you are saying he is not talented?

On the brake issue

Brake manufacturer Brembo has denied reports that Sebastian Vettel's retirement from the Australian Grand Prix was caused by a brake failure.

The Red Bull Racing driver retired from the Melbourne event while leading comfortably, after he suffered a mechanical problem on his front left wheel.

Red Bull's brake supplier Brembo issued a statement on Tuesday clarifying that the failure had nothing to do with the brakes.

The company said Red Bull had confirmed a torque drive between the front left axle and wheel has been lost.

"With regard to the retirement of the Red Bull Racing's driver Sebastian Vettel during the Grand Prix of Australia, Brembo communicates that the cause of his exit in Turn 13 was not caused by the braking system supplied by Brembo, as some publications have reported," Brembo said.

"Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Sebastian Vettel retired from the Australian Grand Prix after the torque drive between the front left axle and wheel was lost.

"Post-race investigations revealed the wheel nut was correctly tightened at the pitstop as well as other possible causes of the fault.

"The team has communicated that it's studying a number of solutions at present, which can be implemented for the Malaysian Grand Prix."

As i said it takes 2 to tango, he just doesn't come across as talented? You know, I just don't like him, Massa i think is a good driver. But people think he's crap. It's mainly the car, RB have a good package. Vettel is just doing his job and bringing in as much points as possible.

What was the problem then? Dirver error?

[Cordyceps]

vettel is definitely taleted... dull but none the less very talented... how do u explain him contantly outing pacing mark webber, and get pole position on raceday.

maybe he's not a risk taker and every race he tries to play it face but u cant deny he's a very talented driver.

*edited* play it safe not play it face..

Unique circumstances made the Ferrari-engined Toro Rosso not only faster than the "big sister's" Renault-Powered Red Bull, but also outright fastest at Monza. Vettel has an uncanny ability to only win when the car is the fastest.

A bit like Jenson last season then?

The wins? Pretty much. For a couple of those races though, Button is the only driver who could have gotten that performance out of the Brawn (Notably Monaco).

Dirty little secret for you: most race wins are taken in the fastest car of the weekend. Shocking, I know.

Reliability? The more i think about it, the more i think he's a car breaker.

He showed so with the engines last yr.
He'll drive with Kimi next yr. That's 2 car breakers on the same team

I see Vettel either Ferrari or Mercedes bound.
When Massa's contract runs out. i'm sure they'll be in negotiations...

[yamashek]

Seb is so fast that he doesn't need to overtake anyone
He just keeps on getting pole positions

that's until he gets a sub-standard car...like the current MGP (i guess!)

Vettel in a Ferrari...mmmm..that's sounds good

I thought he might be Ferrari bound after that STR win since the STR is Ferrari powered, and there were some talks that STR's contract with Ferrari included that Ferrari can use STR's drivers or something. (or i might just well be spitting out garbage )
