Basically, Batracer is another racing management game. However, it is different in that you are the driver. You stick in your settings, select your tyre you want to use, when you want to pit and things like that.

From the website:
Quote:
BATracer is a browser webgame similar to some racing manager style webgames. However, it is unique in that gameplay centres around the player as the driver, rather than the team manager. This introduces multiplayer team work as an important part of success.

There are of course more, but those are the main ones. Others include A1GP, Classic F1 86 and British Tourers

There was an incident which resulted in the entire website being shut down - Ferrari complained about their name being used, and as a result all names are now fake but easy to tell which is which. Ferrari is Team Wales as the game's creater is Welsh.

I will make a post about how to change the names back to normal soon.

User Scripts for Name Changes

One of the main changes to BATracer was the removal of manufacturer names from the game. Thanks to some players of BATracer there is now a 'User Script' that replaces the fake names back to the original names that could be found in game previously. This user script is not endorsed, recommended or supported by BATracer in any way and any use is down to the individual. The user script changes the names back on the users computer only, so if you use more than one computer then you would need to install on all these computers. The user script may not work on all types of browser. Depending on your PC specs you may notice some slow down when pages are loading especially on the larger races like LMES races or Oval races.

FireFox users
Make sure You have 'Grease Monkey' Installed. This is an add-on that enables you to use the user scripts. Download available at: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

Click on 'add to Firefox' then follow instructions.

Restart Firefox

Once you have Grease Monkey installed go to: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/61288

Click on 'Install' and follow instructions

The script should now replace the fake names when playing BATracer.

Internet Explorer Users

Download Trixie http://www.bhelpuri.net/Trixie/

Save the user script into C:\Program Files\Bhelpuri\Trixie\Scripts

Restart IE.

Chrome Users
Download the dev channel version of Chrome (dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel)

Once dev channel is installed, open the properties of your Chrome shortcut and add --enable-user-scripts to the target path: mine thus reads C:\Users\haha, nice try\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome .exe --enable-user-scripts

Save the user script into C:\Users\lolz\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\user Data\Default\User Scripts\, creating the User Scripts folder if necessary

Restart Chrome if you had it open in step 2.

Opera/Safari Users

At present there doesn't seem to be any easy way to get the user scripts to work on these browsers. If you use Safari on a Mac then you can take a look at: How to run Grease Monkey scripts in Safari

Looks intresting, can this be played online against other users?

Yes, that's what it is, an online game where you team up with another online user and race against other people from around the world :)

And yeah, there was an incident with Ferrari, read my second post for info on how to change them back :D

Ahh, so there is no actual racing using wheels/keyboards/etc against other people via the internet then?
