Hello Guys and Dolls, thought i'd drop by and give my opinion on this.

Lets not take anything away from that fact that Hamilton was completely stupid to undertake in such actions. Although it isn't the harshest of crimes, it could have still injured someone. That aside Hamilton appears to still not grasped his position in this world. He is an icon, someone who is required to set a good example for people. What is it with sportsmen, or people with money, believing that they are above the laws of the land?

It is quite ironic that the FIA has chosen this weekend to launch its "Make Roads Safer" Campaign - I bet Hamilton will not be asked to front it.

However, in his defense, it wasn't the worst of crimes and he has apologised openly. It wasn't like he was doing drugs or sleeping around or whatever these "Celebrities" do. I think that the matter should be left for now. It is something to be decided in the future and away from the F1 world. Sure there will be a report on it, but at the moment I feel that it shouldn't dominate F1 news. I was actually quite peeved that the BBC continued to raise it as an issue in their qualifying coverage today. Yes, again, he needs to set a good example etc (especially given his profession), but there wasn't really any need to ask Martin Whitmarsh about it. It isn't like Whitmarsh is his nanny.

I'll probably get lambasted for this, but I kind of like the fact that he did it. He's still a young man after all, and I very much doubt that he ever had less than 100% control over the vehicle. It was like when he messed about at the end of Silverstone last year - I thought that was pretty cool too.

Isn't messing around on a race track slightly different from doing it on an open road?

I mean don't get me wrong i'm not really bothered by his actions, i'm just saying.

Next time i come to glasgow i'm going to do a big donut in your apparments car park.

I like it too its somthing James hunt would of done, only Hunt would of punched the cop to the ground after he was pulled over. It would of been alright because they would of gone for a beer afterwards.

I happen go agree with you. I accept it was a silly think to do, but he's copped to it so no harm done. Fact is, he's one of the best drivers on the planet and racing drivers are freaking rock stars! They're supposed to do things a little crazy sometimes
