They had to change their diffusers so there's practically no way they can be faster than before.

Really?

Now that McLaren has been forced to close up the diffuser at the FIA's insistence, how much of a change will this have on their one-lap performance at Albert Park?

Phil Prew - McLaren's principal race engineer: The modifications to the diffuser, for us, were quite small, and we don't anticipate it to have any real effect on performance. It certainly won't be better, but we're not anticipating any real loss of performance with that.

So any real improvement depends on whether they have other upgrades or not i guess, going off what Phil Prew has said here.

I think Webber will break his duck on home turf (by switching his car with Vettel's whilst nobody's looking - Alain Prost style).

Hopefully a better result for Williams, Barrichello identified quite a few problems from the Bahrain weekend which pretty much had the team running around like headless (no, not you headless :P ) chickens.

LMAO!!!
Ohhh yer he has no chance. Honestly, he will not have a chance in hell to do well, i just think he will as you said 'Break His Duck' :whip:

Tentatively:

McLaren 1-2 is on the cards, but it's all to play for in qualifying. That's the wildcard at present.

Not really, they were relatively lighter and JB has admitted he was amazingly lighter than the other cars and accepts the amount of speed difference between him and the other drivers/cars.

I doubt JB admitted anything of the sort, since "amazingly lighter" isn't something people say. What McLaren said was that they were focusing on shorter runs whereas others weren't necessarily. What they also said was that the car feels good - and that fact shows in how committed it was all the way round the track.

Agreed. But when it comes down to the heavy runs, that won't matter. Like in the winter testing, Ferrari shown both light and heavy. Rain or dry they were quick, and that is fact to the first and second race... McLaren are lacking something, plus if there diffuser is 'Gone' that will push there 'project' back.....I think the 2 teams that are doing the right thing is Ferrari & Red Bull which is try 2 different formulas and see which is the best, as you can from the testing. Massa Is a margin off Alonso, So they are testing two different cars and different set ups. McLaren seem to be focusing on the completely wrong things.

Massa is off Alonso because Alonso is a fantastic to the point of potentially legendary driver and Massa isn't, he's just good. McLAren are focusing on making the car quick in quali so that they can be in a position to make use of their already fantastic race pace. Quite how you can conclude that that's the wrong thing to be doing when the current rules essentially require strong qualifying pace (Almost to the point of rendering race pace meaningless), I don't know.

You are now my friend, i will no longer argue with you ;)
JensonB we will no longer argue. I do agree with you to be fair. McLaren do seem to be up with the pace, and could potentially be a 1-2. But i do want JB to win instead of Lewis, that is for Sure

Ouch, careful there vanilla,

It's hard to say as Ferrari were blatantly sandbagging.

I don't think the mercs are anywhere with regards to podiums.

I think they will be close to us. But i do think Ferrari will win, if i am to be honest. I think they will be in the 1-3 box. But they both will be on the podium to be honest, But Macca are close. There's no denying the competition.
