Suppose I could try eating just fruit/raw vegetables if you all don't think its a good idea.

I just read other peoples experiences on internet and it seems a lot of people do it :/

Okay I'll give that I go instead, see how I do on that :) . I just figured a water fast wouldn't be so bad as so many people seem to do it. Some people do it for up to a month  But most commonly is 7 - 10 days.
Only annoyance is it slows your metabolism down.

Don't be so bloody stupid [/parent]

Hey I was only seeing if anyone had done it, its not stupid!

Ask someone buried alive under rubble in Haiti for a week how not stupid it is.

:nono::rolleyes: Your refering to a situation beyond a persons control and her decision IS under her control.

That's the point, why would anyone push their body to the brink of survivability, especially for the sake of "health" when it's one of the most unhealthy things you can do to your body. If she said it's not stupid it's because she's looked into it and has already gotten the thought that it's ok, we're both saying it's not ok. Perhaps my example i1s harsh, but starvation for the sake of health is a radical (and medically wrong) idea. So Han, please DON'T EVEN THINK about it!

In simple terms it is how you say something and not what you say. Our dearest Hannah is looking/asking for some guideance and truth and not to be belittled. I honestly do not think she needs a cleansing but if she feels she does I want to help her make the healthiest choice she can make :) .

lol there's lots of idiots on the internet, Anyone doing a water fast for over 3 days is doing harm to their body no matter what they think.

May aswell cook the veg just get a steamer it cooks it reasonbly quickly keeping the vitimins etc.. in the food.

try a chilli with just a few varaties of beans and veg well nice, and really good for you really easy to cook too.

Nothing toxic in that.

I just read about it on the internet- people's experiences etc and I just thought I'd ask on here too. It was generally mixtured thoughts from what people had to say about it but then I just thought i'd see what people on here think- your all a good lot :)

You are so right we've ALL done stupid things. No intention to belittle I'm thinking she doesn'tseem the type to get talked into anything she doesn't want to do. Frankly I wished that someone would have stopped me from doing some of the STUPID things in my past. :D I have two teenaged kids and and would not have a problem if someone talked sense into them if they were trying to do something stupid, regardless of how it was said.

Maybe belittle was not the proper terminology for me to use, my apologies :) .

^^ That knowledge bodes well for both Hannah and I. I simply look at it or this situation/discussion as passing on not only knowledge and experience but good will  .

It's a very bad idea, I wouldn't even dare try it.

I'm sorry thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Just go for a 3 mile run 5 times a week, it works just fine for me.

I do go running! Ive been running twice daily for the past two weeks.

It sounds dangerously close to anorexia to me. I'm not a doctor but I can tell you from experience that going for any length of time without food has detrimental effects both physically and mentally. When I was about thirteen, up until my late teens, I would often go without food for days at a time and it did nothing but make me feel miserable and lethargic. I didn't consistently lose weight and I certainly didn't feel healthier.

I go days without eating and it makes me feel good about myself

In what way? Do you feel healthier? I never did. I felt happy that I'd managed to cut my calories but I never felt particularly healthy. I'll admit that my motivations weren't to detox, I had a problem with self image and still do to an extent, but the result was the same. I imagine the reason it makes you, and made me, feel 'good' is that it makes you lose weight quickly, and nothing feels better than shedding a few pounds. The problem is that when you go back to eating normally you put it straight back on, feel like crap, and then you go on another fast to make up for it. And so the cycle begins, at least for me. If you're already going "days without eating" then is it necessary to fast yet again for detoxing purposes?
