Now at absolutely far fetched as this sound being one of Bernie's ideas... this COULD actually work. I grew up in the neighborhood that is being discussed a a venue, pretty much in Secaucus NJ, a stone's throw from mid town Manhattan. This particular area has actually hosted Indy series races in the past. It would be like an F1 circuit in my back yard.

So at the risk of sounding hypocritical since I laugh at Bernie's ideas in general. This one I support!!!

"F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone Thursday said he is pushing to organize a Grand Prix on the streets of New York.

Ecclestone told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport that he hopes the race will be held for the first time in 2012.

"I'm trying for 2012, opposite Manhattan in New Jersey with skyscrapers in the background," said the 79-year-old.

"Fifteen minutes from the center of New York to the circuit. (It would be) a wonder."

The last US Grand Prix was held at Indianapolis in 2007.

Ecclestone also mentioned to the sports newspaper his friend and business partner Flavio Briatore, who recently ruled out returning to F1 despite overturning his FIA ban for involvement in the crash-gate scandal.

"I think he could take up a role in the promotion of Formula One," said the Briton."

We don't need another street circuit, they have pretty scenery but boring races.

I don't disagree but maybe I'm just overwhelmed or have my senses clouded by the fact that it's my back yard. Can't be that boring when you're actually there right? I'd rather watch a boring NYC race in person than a boring Bahrain race on tv.

I think Bernie's been playing too much Forza 3 on the XBox, there's a ficticious New York street circuit which is a bit crap.

Frankly regardless of the venue the simple fact remains that a US GP is wanted and needed.

Just what we bloody need... another effin' street track...... feck off Bernie!

Actually it is not about what you need and what we here in the US deserve  although you could just take Alonso's advice and quit watching :hehe: ???

I'd try it and see if it'd work or not, since the idea of the New York GP will give any tourist a chance to see something they thought they'd never see and give the US an F1 race!

Good point, but where are the most people.
Your backyard? or sat in living rooms all over the world?

I think everyone is missing the important factor here:

Wouldn't this mess Trump's hair?

New york city, would be amazing. but i do get a feeling there maybe too many street circuits. Maybe London should be next, but i do think hitting the states again would be amazing.
