Just as it says...

wtf

As in... bowel movements (ie you being familiar with them, and not with celibacy vows and stuff) :hehe: it was just a cheap shot at you......

In very severe cases, Brunner said, the church would report abuse to authorities if the victim agreed. That’s a policy the church here has consistently towed the line on.
If a priest were to admit abuse during confession, Brunner says it would remain secret. “The sacramental seal must not be broken,” he said.
Brunner said canon law stipulates penalties for all crimes committed by priests. “If the priest is improving, if he repents, you can waive the penalty.”

The same happens with Dr. (ie shrinks and so on).
As for the church having to forgive the sin... that is the church's stand on sin and cofession. If the person broke a law, then it is the duty of the law system to seek due punishment. The whole purpose of confession is to seek forgiveness... in other words, something to make the sinner feel better and go on and have better sleep :) There are some sins the church does not forgive, such as abortion and maybe some others (don't know exactly which, but i would think child abuse should be right up there).

If I was in a club of atheists (yes they exist) and that club would do such things, yes, I would leave that club. Nowhere did I say people should give up their belief in whatever (or give up sending their kids to daycare centers) However, they should change their affiliation and go to another club of similar common interest or indeed rethink their belief system at such an opportunity and draw conclusions.

you're saying the CLUB is doing such things... in this case, it is not the church doing such things. It's individuals.
If you're a member of Forumula1.com and some of its members were... meat eaters. Would you leave Forumula1.com because you don't like people eating meat?

I'm surprised the church does not have an equally fierce stand against child abusing as it does against abortion... although, what is worse? abortion or child abuse? What would be sensible punishment for either?

Gladly, I'm not the one to judge.

Uh, yes the club is doing these things, such as covering up, moving those sickos from one parish to another, threatening victims, etc. Plus the entire culture of that club is fostering such behavior, see, e.g., celibacy.

swissinfo.ch and agencies

The last paragraph is particularly disgusting :banghead:

I agree completely :banghead:

I don't see why those covering up acts of sexual abuse are allowed to get away with it. They should be prosecuted for aiding and abetting, they're actively helping paedophiles to commit further abuse. Instead they get to hide behind the church, as do the abusers.

On the news tonight. An American priest abused 200 deaf boys and was protected by the now pope. :yikes:

So, let's see, a million bucks per case per lawsuit - that's 200 million right there! Let's hope this degenerate club of perverts will be sued to bankruptcy :furious:

Sorry but if it is not obvious I leave you with a riddle :P .

If you're referring to sexual abuse in private European homes (to bring your American point of view into play), sure. HOWEVER, when Americans go to Thailand and cheaply buy young boys there, it's still the same thing and it happens a LOT.
Also, to compare this kind of sickos with the clergy is disingenuous: they do it in an official position of power, which makes it even more despicable.
